The Random Adventures of Pink Link!

Well, this is my first sprite comic. They're pretty short so I can get two or three done in a day. So, here...

Episode 3: I'm the boss?


...Episode 1: The "Chocolate Factory"
...Episode 2: I'm... I'm... FAT?!

Any criticism?

Good good. I say to add speach bubbles, and change the text, to make it more interesting.

You really need to stop hanging around Stoopidmahn. Anyway, this is how my first sprite comic looked when I first started. Here is a short review, I can't give a full one seeing as how it is only two comics.

Okay...so...

• You need text boxes/bubbles. Lines pointing to text won't cut it here.
• Randomness = not funny = sprite suicide
• Maybe enlarging the sprites a bit more?
• Don't hang around Stoopidmahn :glare
• Make episodes longer

Episode length dosen't really matter that much. Randomness CAN be ok, just not the whole time.

...Working on those. Episode 3 will be the same length as the last two... I'll make it longer in 4.

Actually Stoopid, TML's right. Except I have some more crit.

1: Well...Those Link sprites suck. I don't care if they are popular. Use GoldStud's. If you need the sheet, or need them recolored to pink, PM me.

2: I know TML said this but comics that are short like that aren't really that good unless they have some depth. Those were just like:

Comic Number 1:
Look it's a box.
Hey it's got a mask in it.
END

Comic Number 2:
Look it's a sword!
Look I turned into an evil monster thingy...
END

If they're gonna be short, make em bust your gut hilarious. I suggest reading comics like these. There's actually a good one here too. It's called "comic of woot". And is in the thread "Sprite Comic of Doomy Doom".

3: Speech Bubbles are good. All you have to do is set your line width setting to the one in the middle, wrap it around your text, and you got em. Simple.

4: Don't use the excuse: I wanna make em short so I can make more!
That doesn't work. Sprite comics, unless the humor is fast and instant, should be way longer than that.

Well that's all I gotta say. Pretty good for your first one. (if it is the first one)

Actually, the funniest comic I've ever read was random as hell. He just pulled it off better.
You don't need closeups unless something important is happening.
That's just mean.
Another one of my favorite comics is just four panels, but, again, he pulls the humor off better.

Why yes, I heard those were pretty good too, whoever makes those is a fine comic maker. . . .

Seriously though, if you need help, PM FD, GS, FTW, me, or anyone else who's comic you like around here, I'm sure they'd be glad to help (especially me).

I personally think if you want good advice go to an awesome sprite artist like yourself and get some tips. Like maybe you should go find the person who won this years "Best Sprite Comic" award. Just a suggestion.

Blizzaga kind of disapeared, and left sprite comicing, so I don't know if he'll be able to help you, even though he won the award.

The problem with that suggestion being he left. Seriously, aside from Bliz, the best comickers here are FD, GS (although he can't comit to a comic), and possibly me (not to brag, but people say I'm good, and I would be happy to help).

Yes, they're the best. Also, each of them has been here for a long time. FD has been here for like, over 2 years, goldstud ??? and AM for one year. I've been here for half a year, and they've already taught me so much. Listen to them, and you'll be great.

Bliz left because he didn't have time to sprite. I guess that ment he didn't have time for here either.

But seriously, I've been looking for someone to take on as my pupil. I can teach in the mystic ways of mediocre comicking. And once you can pull that off, check FD's sticky thread for more improvement tips.

So, try using comic sans font. Also, Photofiltre is good for effects.

I'm using that font. I use The GIMP to make everything, PhotoFiltre to recolor, and Paint to add the text.

Just a tip, don't use Comic Sans. Look on Blambot under the 'Dialogue Fonts' section and find something you like that's origional.

Why does everyone hate Comic Sans so much? It's a fine font.

Frankly, the one time I did use a blambot font, the font's file actually started destroying itself.

But I digress. This comic could use a bit of work. I'd say adding some semblance of what's going on would help a bit. Actually, it'd help immensely.
