Quest for Stupidity

I've decided to try to do a sprite comic, it's a parody of the great RPG game Quest for Glory.

Currently I'm making the second episode.

EDIT: Made the comic smaller.

Re: Quest for Stupidity

Uh, dude, some advice for you...
1. make it funnier.
2. make it with real sprites. Example:

Ok?

Re: Quest for Stupidity

Yeah. Wasn't that funny...Pictures too big and too hard to follow. Needs serious work.

Maybe not as funny as pro wrestling, but a lot more realistic.

Re: Quest for Stupidity

I liked it! And I feel bad for people tromping on you for trying something out of the ordinary. This comic is very unique, and I wish for you to keep it up! However, the images in this comic are a bit too big, and takes a long while for it to load on my PC. Maybe if you scaled the pictures down a bit? I really like your comic and applaud your attempt of uniqueness! I wish there were more comics like that around here. ^_^

Re: Quest for Stupidity

Comics like yours are what I like to call a Comic Comic. It looks like the real Marvel stuff with like Spiderman flinging himself around. Its all angley and sweet.
It'll be cool once you add the magic spice of humor. I like how the theif has a natural instinct to kill all law enforcement. The massive hulk of the size of it is a bit of a nuisance, though. It took some serious navigation to enjoy the comic.
I liked it.

Re: Quest for Stupidity

Just a note to all of you who complained that he should use "real sprites".... He did. The game is "Quest for Glory 1: So you want to be a hero" (vga version). The game was for the PC, not an 8-bit system like the consoles of the time. That meant there was room for larger and thus more detailed sprites in it. That, and since it was NOT a top-down, overworld type display, you got to see the sprites at a different angle....

Asides from that though, I agree that that is a rather unwieldy file there... I don't have problems loading it, but reading it is still annoying. As a rule of thumb, if it stetches the screen, it may be too large...

Re: Quest for Stupidity

I definately appreciate this comic's originality! Sure it's the first and could use work (but what can't? No one's perfect..), but it sure beats the same old background and Link sprite (shaped after Mega Man *shudders* That is really getting old) that is so commonly used. No offense to anyone. Bravo!

Re: Quest for Stupidity

Smiles! That was actually really definitely good! I liked the whole "It actually fits in your screen" thing. Very nice! Your backgrounds were definitely good. The only thing I didn't like was that when he killed the lizard (YEAH!) all it showed were swishy knifelines. Violence deserves details! ^_^

Re: Quest for Stupidity

There is a little of blood spilled, but as I resized the image it isn't very good, you should see it if you look closer.

Re: Quest for Stupidity

Let's see. Hmm... a two-dimensional character in space of the third dimension that can be manipulated. Yep! It's a sprite! So therefore, a sprite comic. It doesn't have to be a plain old background with characters that are shaped after Megaman to be a sprite comic. This, however, is original. And once again, I applaud Advent's attempts of doing something out of the ordinary. You have my support!

Oh, and keep up the good work! ^_^

Re: Quest for Stupidity

! How many time has been since the last Quest for Stupidity...

Beware: This isn't a funny action comic, this comic was done just to make people realise that there's a plot moving in there! (Sorry, randomness lovers!)

Re: Quest for Stupidity

Sweet! Man, all the good comics are comin' back! I love your style of comic, its... refreshing. Nice to see something good like this. My only advice would be- do close ups. Like panel two where he says 'so he isn't going to...' would have been the perfect place for a close up of Fred's face. Close ups can add a lot of interest and make your comics flow a lot smoother, and make it even better!
