an idea... good or not you decide

im not really sure about this but i was just playing oot and during the cutscene thing that shows the fire and talks about the hylian war a thought struck me. maybe it would be cool if they made a zelda game that takes place during that war. like you control the hylian army. kind of like in the game kingdom under fire. i guess it would suck that links not in the game. but it might be kind of cool. what do you think? i guess it sorta sounds stupid. but i dont know.

I would like it as a spin off i suppose, it shouldn't get "The Legend of Zelda" in front of it though.

I' d be ok with it. It would widen the franchise and help explain many mysteries about the war.

I'd like it if you play as OOT Link's dad. It would help clear up some of the mysteries surrounding the war too.

yeah. clearing up the mysteries would be cool. we all know there was a war so why not have us know more about it. and maybe for the "the end" screen it could show the deku tree as he looked in oot with a baby carriage thing under him. that would be cool.

If ZWii is pre-OOT and it shows the creation of the MS than the final scene will probably be the MS being placed in the pedastal and the DOT closing.

That was my thought. I was going to explore that facet of Link's past in my fan fiction, Curse of the Zora, as a side-story interwoven with the rest. Is his father a knight? A descendant of one? Or was Link's existence brought to bear from a darker, violent deed? There is a lot that could be done there, and I do see that it could be done Zelda-style, but with a different protagonist. My version might be too dark though, hehe.

Sounds like an interesting idea which would obviously be a spin off.

Personally I would rather it use an original story rather than some lame "this is connected to OoT" crap. I know OoT is a good game but its not the only Zelda after all and its not that amazing that every Zelda needs to use it.

The gameplay idea is good, the story idea however would need to change to something original.

I still think Link should be a main character.

I'd like to eventually play during the events of this war. Hopefully it can be implemented to the events of a main Legend of Zelda game, or it could be better off as a stand-alone spin-off or episode game. I'm really hoping for LoZ episodic games.

This series could benefit from some genre-swapping spin-offs. I'm for it.

i think a game like this would be better for the wii then for the DS

as most said, it shouldn't be a zelda game but a spin off, however playing around too much with oot could lead to ruining it's "epicness" they should just leave it as it is or make a good spin off.

im just hoping a mod will move this into the spin off forum.

I have a fairly fleshed out idea for a Zelda Real-Time Strategy game that takes place during the backstory of Ocarina of Time.

In my idea, you control the Hylians, Gorons, Zora, Sheikah, Gerudo, Deku, and Bulblins, but you control small armies, not gigantic ones. I was thinking along the lines of 30, with the Dekus and Bulblins being able to field armies of 50 troops and Gorons and Sheikah fielding maybe 20 troops.

There would be a huge emphasis on terraforming: the Gorons would dig caverns, the Zora would live in the water and be able to slowly expand it, the Sheikah would be able to build underground and underneath enemy structures, the Hylians would build walls and towers, the Gerudoes would focus on their central fortress, the Dekus would plant trees and live underground, while the Bulbins would emphasize nomadism and have crappy walls.

Basically, it'd take alot of inspiration from Four Swords...except it would be more like Thirty Swords.

I think this is right.

I think a game like this would work well as a RTS.
