I never said it needed one. I said it was better because it has a story.

Yeah yeah I know, that's why I said sorry. For me smash isn't smash without it.

FD: Actually, story isn't everything. I enjoyed melee's adventure mode more then brawls, Melee had stages and enemies from the game series, brawl only had poor enemies(exept some mario enemies) and stage's that were not cool at all. Although halberd did remind me of kirby's superstar.

That's your opinion. I never said the story is everything I just said it was better than Melee's story. And I never said that was the only thing that made Brawl better than Melee.

Re: Melee vs Brawl

Brawl's adventure mode is better than Melee's, in my opinion, solely because of one thing. You only have to do Brawl's once, and you can replay any stage whenever you want to get all the collectables. You can even unlock all characters through this adventure mode. Whereas you have to go through Melee's adventure mode with all the goddamn characters.

Not that it matters anyway, SSE is hardly anything to look at twice.

Re: Melee vs Brawl

Well, SSE is only a Kirby Superstar-ish ripoff but worse, if you know what I mean.
Melee's is simply tedious to redo all stages for every characters.

Re: Melee vs Brawl

I never got to play Melee very much (my friend had it, but she moved away), so I didn't really get to experience everything there is to experience.

I used to play it with my friend a little bit, so I know a few things about Melee.

I own brawl, and I have done nearly every single mode there is.

I used to play it a lot, but now it's just once every other day.

Once you've started unlocking everything, finishing every challenge... it gets kinda boring.

Re: Melee vs Brawl

I could beat every character I faced on melee. 9 was only a challenge if there were 3 of them and they were all against me. My brother was a little worse than I. I was always Link. The boomerang toss, the roll, the smash attack, the double jump, the up+B spin, the arrows, and the shield were all I needed. I had the same basic strategy and although it was predictable, it was still hard to beat me. Infact, ever since my bro learned my strategy/tactics, he fought worse.

On brawl, it is so much cooler, but with any character I suck. Even with a gc controller.

I vote brawl. Too bad Link's attacks were so different. Ike was the only one I could fight with.

This. I really hate Melee, actually. Until recently I was a one-character girl, and I always played Pikachu. Well, in Melee, Pikachu kind of sucked I guess, because I almost NEVER won. I know you're supposed to be a good sport and all but when you lose almost every single match, it stops being fun.

In Brawl, I play with Pikachu, the Links, Pit, and Peach. I win some, I lose some. Things are more balanced.

That's much better.

It all depends on how you use him. I actually liked Falco more in Melee because he could do a grab down, reflector, and then a meteor smash combo (yes, I know you didn't say anything about Falco).

It's funny that you mention that.

I don't like Brawl because you have to do Target Tests in Brawl a combined 165 times.

Pikachu wasn't that bad in Melee, you just weren't good. >_>

It's really funny that you say that, because if you played people who knew Brawl's tricks, then you wouldn't have fun in Brawl, either.

Re: Melee vs Brawl

The casuals are mostly blinded to think Brawl is the superior game, the hardcore knows better that Melee is where it's at for a serious competition. I'm siding with TheBattler on this, Pikachu really can be good on Melee. Melee's characters really are better balanced, and Brawl is flawed with some serious exploitable glitches that are quick to pull off.

Melee. Mainly because of the sheer hours of fun i had with that game. Pizza, Dr. Pepper, friends, Melee, hours and hours of smash. <3 Truly great.
Brawl had some good points. Some of the stages were pretty cool and i liked making my own. It had some characters i liked too but i lean toward Melee.

It's not even the hardcore gamers, dawg. It can be very easy to see why Brawl's gameplay engine is horribly flawed.

It takes about 10 minutes on Youtube to look some BS in Brawl up.

And, in actuality, Pikachu wasn't good in Melee, either. He had an absolutely horrible matchup against Marth, which is why he wasn't used at all in tournaments (Marth being the most common character at tournaments), and he has bad matchups against the rest of the top four in the game, anway (Fox, Falco, Sheik), as well as a disgusting matchup against the Ice Climbers.

But that really doesn't apply to a casual player, and at least in Melee, the low-tier characters could actually do something other than sit around and get demolished (except Mewtwo >_>), and Pikachu was a far cry from the characters who would get utterly owned.

Yeah, and I still found Melee's adventure mode more painful to go through time and time again. The target tests were short, it wasn't a sweat to do them now and then at all, and the only reason why you would do them all would be to get a handful of trophies. Even then, I was comparing adventure modes only.

The boss battle mode in Brawl, now that's a thing I can compare to Melee's adventure mode.
