If so, I'd first point to the Triforce. It can easily be seen as similar to the Holy Trinity due to it's three parts.

Also: What movie? I know there's been a TV series and those awful CD-i games, but a movie...?

I think TC is highly mistaken.

For one, there has never been a Zelda movie.

Secondly, the closest thing to a Zelda movie is the Zelda cartoon series.

Thirdly, he can't possibly be talking about the Zelda cartoon series, because the quote he used is from the Zelda CD-i games.

I think it would be more akin to Link being just your typical swordsman without any special, satanic magical ability and Ganon being clearly a demon for Link to slay.

Though yes, you could certainly draw a comparison between Ganon as a demon for Link is sent to slay.

All that being said, I still can't believe they played it on TBN.

Link was quite clearly a Christian in the first game and the TV series. His shield had a big ol' cross on it.

Well, the thing about the Triforce is that in early depictions of the thing, there was no Triforce of Courage; there was one of Power and one of Wisdom, and that carried over into the cartoon series.

Sooooo, there is no "trinity" at that point. So, if they showed the cartoons, then there would be no Biblical comparisons. In early Zelda, the religion of the Hylians was highly ambiguous (although, as one poster just showed, Link carried the Cross on his shield), and that carried over into a children's T.V. show.

You're right, though, an interesting parallel can be drawn if one doesn't know about the Goddesses. God the Father = Power due to His omnipotence, God the Son = Courage due to His willing to sacrifice, and the Holy Spirit = Wisdom due to the Holy Spirit being the thing that encourages people to be Christians.

All that being said, I still can't believe they played it on TBN.

But, anyway, Link is a white guy who's only magic powers are quite harmless; a pouch that holds infinite items, and shooting lasers out of his sword. He goes courting a and saving a white princess from an evil demon who lives in the underworld. And it's in "medieval times," when the most significant event was that war to win the Holy Land back from the Moslems. It's bound to appeal to Evangelical Americans.

It's alsso possible that just the general idea of Good>Evil or Light>Darkness...but there is one thing that jsut doesn't make sense...Zelda has witches in it, and although they are stereotypical fantasy witches, most Christians would still object to it...

I don't know but they deffinately did make a zelda movie. It might still be in making, but they did advertise for one on IGN and I saw a poster one day on the web.

Yeah, No movie. I'm doing Theatre Arts at uni and it is my dream that should I make it big in Hollywood that I will be the one to direct the CGI epic that will be a canon LoZ film.
