SBR-B Official Brawl Tier List v3.0

It's that time again...

The third tier list is out.

High Tier
S: Meta Knight, Snake, Wario, Falco, Diddy Kong, King Dedede
A: Marth, Mr. Game & Watch, Pikachu, Olimar, Ice Climbers, R.O.B., Kirby
Middle Tier
B: Lucario, Zero Suit Samus, Toon Link, Pit, Donkey Kong
C: Peach, Luigi, Fox, Wolf, Sonic, Sheik
D: Bowser, Zelda, Pokémon Trainer, Ike
Low Tier
E: Lucas, Mario, Ness, Yoshi, Samus
F: Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon, Link, Ganondorf

There are a few things you should know about, such as the way the tiers were constructed. Be sure to read the thread for details.

Standard disclaimer stuffs:

• Tier lists are an approximation of overall effectiveness.
• Tier lists assume each character is being played at its current best in a tournament setting.
• Characters higher on the tier list will not necessarily beat a character that is lower on the tier list.
• Tier lists generally do not affect anyone but the best players.

Okay, this tier list looks really, really strange. I'd like to go and complain about it on Smashboards, but...since I'm not really a part of that community. :-\

For one thing, Meta Knight should really be in his own tier. No one else has as many advantageous matchups and lack of disadvantaged matchups as him. At least Snake eats it from Dedede, Dedede hates Falco, Pikachu, and the Ice Climbers, etc.

It's also really weird that they'd place Game and Watch so low. I mean, he has a few horrible matchups, but he dominates in many others, which is better than Dedede. And it's really strange seeing Wario make such a huge jump.

And it looks like some more characters are in A and S Tiers, looks like some new bugs and tricks were found, and maybe Brawl DOES have some viable characters.

Otherwise, it looks just about the same as the last one to me.

Is it just me, or do Ike and Luigi keep getting lower? Gosh, they must be getting used and used less...

You can't find good matchups for characters you don't use. >_>

Luigi's moved up for every new tier list...

Damn I logged on Smashboards and saw that a new tier list came out today and was gonna post a thread... but got beat to it.

Well not much to say. I'm actually pretty surprised that Wario jumped to third. I expected him to move to 4 and Falco to stay at 3.

I always disagreed with the bottom tiers. I always thought that Falcon was better than Link and Ganon. So I completely agree with that part now.

I expected that ROB and Lucario would drop a bit. Overall I must say I agree very much with this tier list.

How did Sonic jump 8 places?

At least Peach and Kirby didn't change. But Samus and Mario are a bit too low in my opinion.

Have you ever played a decent Sonic player? They're horrible (horrible as in good - erm).

My brothers regularly play against a couple, and so do I. We were always wondering why he was so low.

He's not horrible, but he wasn't really good. And with the stigma of him being bad, I thought he wouldn't go up much. Up, but not THAT up.

I meant horrible as in "horrible to play against".

You really should play against a few to see what I mean.

Also, since I didn't really comment on the list:
Kirby didn't move on the list, but moved to A tier. lawl
I don't see Snake or Meta moving any time soon.
I expected more from the Ice Climbers.

I'm going to play Bowser against any gay Sonics and Meta Knights and make them cry. ;>

Way to stay just above Low Tier, Ike, you slow son of a *****.

I don't like this new listing, though, particularly for the higher levels. I just don't see how you can put all of those characters in the same rank as MK and Snake. I think it was a lot more accurate when it was so broken down.

But we both know we're very good Ike players, and that's what matters. If only there were more Ike players like us, though...

It wouldn't mean anything. We're decent at the very best.

There are tourny Ike players out there that would beat us and piss on us. Those same guys in turn get beat and pissed on by players who use higher ranked characters.

Ike just isn't as well designed compared to the majority of the roster.

Yeah, but what if there were MORE tourney Ike players than there are? I'm sure he could move up then, because the more Ike is used, the better his chances are of winning more matches.

Yes, but nobody's going to use a **** character, Ranil. If a Melee tournament consisted of 64 Pichus, of course one will win, but that doesn't make Pichu a good character. Ike needs to be good before he'll get used.

Except even if there were more Ikes, you wouldn't see them drastically improving his results.

They moved up 4 places, which is good considering there's only really one (maybe two) world-class Ice Climbers players. The Ice Climbers boards have exploded with activity recently, so you can be sure there'll be more awesome Ice Climbers players popping out of the woodworks before next tier list.

Ice Climbers are on the rise for sure.

As if you are very good Ike players. I can beat you with Ike and I rarely use him. As for Jeff - me and him are pretty even with Ike.

Go play against a pro Ike (if one exists) and tell me your a good Ike player.

A good Meta knight will win a tournament with all the other characters being Ike. The chances aren't better, it just makes the tournament easier for that one Meta knight user.

I think the old one was more in depth. But now I guess we just think about who's higher and who's lower than x character, and start paying less attention to the letters.

Bring it on. Sonic can be deadly when used correctly. As well as MK, even Lucas if you want.
