Ironically, it's also semi-possible in Brawl, through a different glitch.

Re: SSBB Boring after Subspace Emissary

HNNNNNG.

Wavedashing is NOT a glitch.

Memorable quotes:

Quote:
I have also seen Fox fall through the center of Pokemon Stadium. The floors are supposed to be solid surfaces.
Quote:
A glitch violates the physics in a way the software never intended.
Quote:
If any character air dodges into the ground, he or she will slide along the ground ... The wavedash is a particular variation of this slide. ... It consists of three parts: jumping, air dodging, and sliding. If you examine each component individually, it should be quite apparent that all three were clearly intended physics of the game.

No it wasn't. Melee didn't even have a proper competitive scene until several years after its release, and even then wavedashing wasn't discovered right away, and even then wasn't even widely known/used until around a year after that.

Hmm, I don't think wavedashing is as dominating in Melee as you think, few characters find it useful and fewer need it. The really really dominating Melee tech is SHFFLing, if anything. Every character absolutely needs this at high level play. Wavedashing probably was the one thing that changed the game the most, though.

No, Melee's metagame was not fast (geez, if anything, Brawl's is much much faster, Melee's barely ever moves and was really slow when it did consistently, the competitive scene was really small for almost half its life [see response above]). Actually I find it pretty humorous; Brawl has a fast(-ish?) metagame but slow gameplay, while Melee has/had a slow metagame but fast gameplay.

And no, you're not a tourneyfag. Actually attend a meet or a tourney or something before claiming so plz.

The metagame doesn't mean what you think. It's defined by the techniques and playstyles used at high level play; the speed of the metagame's movement is based on emerging techniques and playstyles and how much they affect high level play. More techniques and playstyles emerging faster and affecting high level play = fast metagame. No/few new techniques or styles = slow metagame.

The awesomeness of the GCN controller is an argument for another day. To sum it up, though, the GCN controller is absolutely perfect in every way and you suck at videogames.

Oh, by the way, EzloSpirit, you're seriously missing out. There's a whole new world of multiplayer gaming awaiting you if you think the Subspace Emissary is it. I've been playing just the regular Brawl mode every day since the game's release over a year ago now, and am far from being bored by it; if anything, I feel like I'm just starting. That's probably more hardcore/tourneyfaggish (lol) than most players, but hot damn it's awesome.

I can see why the GCN is perfect and frankly, I can agree with that. Maybe I am just holding it differently.

And according to the world, yes I do suck at videogames. Thank you for noticing.

lol yeah, that part was mostly in jest, don't take it too personally. The GCN controller is ****ing perfect though, there will never ever be a game controller better than it, at least not one that can be used for all game types.

No no no. Jest or not, it is true.

If I fail at Brawl, then it means I fail at videogames in general. Or at least it seems like that to me.

Hahah, nah, I have an uncle who is absolutely horrendous at Brawl, but for some reason he can handle Mario Kart Wii quite well.

Both games played with the GC controller, mind you.

*Sigh* Maybe I am your uncle...

Except I don't own Mario Kart Wii, but I have many other Mario Karts...

As you can see, this is widely considered the proper way to hold a gamecube controller. Your left index finger is already RESTING on the shield button, and the c-stick is just as easy to use as any of the buttons are around the right thumb. It's pretty easy and simple to use, and there is really no excuse, or reason, to say the shield button and c-stick feel out of reach. Even with small hands, holding it this way makes everything easy. The only other "rumored" way to hold the controller is with the "claw technique", which is almost unusable with 90% of the games made for the gamecube. Meaning - this picture is how you hold a a gamecube controller. I have no idea how you could try to hold it any other way.

Sucking at brawl doesn't make you suck at videogames. I am a "ok" brawl player, but compared to the upper echelon, I am merely practice fodder. I don't suck, but I am not overly good at it either. Maybe you are no good at brawl: Ok then. I am sure you are good at something I am not good at, and vice versa.

On a last note: TGM - Grow some balls. I know your female and all, but you need to stand up for yourself. Stop just taking it and agreeing, and start telling people to f off. You will feel much better about yourself.

Well, not to further get off topic, but I'm starting to feel the same way after playing Excitebots. It's what Mario Kart Wii should've been.

Standard fighting games would like to have a word with that statement. That D-pad is absolutely awful, which makes it pretty bad for a normal directional input fighter like KoF or SF.

I've had it for a year and I haven't even completed the subspace emissary. I actually find that boring lol.

I just play 4 player brawl against level 9's, and it never gets boring.

Re: SSBB Boring after Subspace Emissary

Subspace Emissary is just something Nintendo put in as a new, more "fun", way to get the characters. I found it pretty unique, but the majority of people who buy brawl play multiplayer against friends/CPUs or Online.
