I somewhat main Sonic. Like I know how to use him pretty good, and I put up good fights with him. Yea he's probably the crappiest KO'er in the roster, but I manage to keep up with my oponents.

Re: Official SSBB Tier List
Well, he leaves a lot of room for the player to create mindgames (i.e. with the bite). His air maneuverability is very good, allowing him to time and control his aerial attacks with perfection. He also has several combos with one of his most spammable move: Dair. He also has his good killing options, so he's good in that department. He is also great at punishing opponent mistakes by using bite or a simple Fsmash.
His tourney results also reflect how good he is :3 Toon Link should be close though, he has the tools to make it higher.

Re: Official SSBB Tier List
I WANTED TO SAY THAT!
At least I know we think alike. I personally like his power. His range is bad, but if you're fast enough, that shouldn't matter. It seems most of the top tier characters are balanced, while the others have some insanely good qualities, yet horrible drawbacks. My guess is that most people don't bother to try and practice to compensate for that, and pass those characters off as bad ones. Personally, I HATE balanced characters. Nothing special about them, nothing outstanding that can be used as an advantage in battle. I use Sonic a lot. Partly because I grew up loving him (clear your minds). He's fast, but his range is horrible and I can't seem to knock anybody more then 5 meters with a Smash attack. I know I sound hypocritical to what I wrote above, but I think there are things that certain people cannot compensate for, while other people can (and vice-versa). I can't compensate for a lack of power. Someone else might not be able to compensate for a lack of speed, therefore they need a fast character, and can somehow compensate for bad power where I can't.

Re: Official SSBB Tier List
Because it's just something that's cool to know. I like playing the game, I play it a lot and I'm fairly good, but since I don't own a Wii I just like to know where the characters I use stand. I don't even see why they matter, I just like to know them.

Re: Official SSBB Tier List
Yup. That's noted in the disclaimer to the list. The tier list is not some omniscient scroll of wisdom that will always predict the winner. It simply ranks how the characters rank competitively.

Re: Official SSBB Tier List
I disagree to Link's placement. He's a bad character, however, not that bad. His fsmash, when both hit, does sick damage. He can arrow cancel for fast projectile damage rackup, and jabcancelling allows combos. He also can glidesmash and has a quite good edgeguard as long as you are careful.

Re: Official SSBB Tier List
Meh. Another tier that has absolutely no effect on me (except for those who are idiots and put me down because more than half of the players I use are from the middle down).

Re: Official SSBB Tier List
At first, I was a little surprised that Toon Link wasn't placed higher.
On the other end, I'm surprised that Olimar is actually that high. He has excellent ground and pressure games, he has that annoying d-tilt, he can rack up damage pretty quickly, and he has great finishers. But so far, every Olimar user I've seen has been gimped/edgegaurded at fairly low percents. Metaknight at the top? How "public" (I honestly can't think of a better word at the moment) is this list? Does anyone know if this list on on more that just Smash World? It would certainly explain a few things for me. More and more people - both new and old, but mostly new - have been turning to Metaknight. Not that this is much of a surprise. But on several Brawl sites, I've seen huge influxes of people going to Metaknight because (and I partially quote) they want to win. |

Re: Official SSBB Tier List
I'm surprised Snake didn't make the top spot. Also, the placement of Lucas and Ness surprised me--I thought that they had more potential than that.
But yeah, tiers. If you have a main who's middle- or low-tier, I know the temptation is to get flustered and try to defend that character. But really, it should be a badge of pride. Are you capable of consistently kicking the asses of the Meta Knights and Snakes out there with your Yoshi, Mario, Sonic, or Captain Falcon? Then you must be pretty damned good! Perhaps, in a way better than those who must main Snake, R.O.B., Falco, or Meta Knight. ![]() |
