Paper Zelda

Would you think this would be a good idea?

What would you think of a paper zelda?

OR perhaps a Paper Mario/Zelda cross over game.

That would be awesome. Bringing another zelda RPG game.

Re: Paper Zelda

Well, at least it's a better idea than Zelda Kart or something like that, but I want no crossovers.

It'd be fun to see how the paper effects would affect the gameplay, most notably some of the items.

Re: Paper Zelda

I'm actually a little surprised at the positive response to this, to be perfectly honest I expected more people to hate it. I love paper Mario, have ever since the first one. But, I just can't see a "paper zelda" being all that great. That being said, if it DID happen, I would play it none the less out of devotion to the series. Who knows, I could be totally wrong, and it'd be great if I was. I just don't think I am. Sorry. Interesting idea though.

I'm all for switching up the art and gameplay, but I'm pretty sure that's the wrong way to do it.

Re: Paper Zelda

I'm not really too keen on the idea of a Paper Zelda, personally (though it's not a definite no). It doesn't quite gel with my idea of how a Zelda game is supposed to be...it just seems more suited to a Mario game.

Re: Paper Zelda

Mario has always been a much more flexible game than zelda. Mario has a formula much like the usual Zelda, save the damsel in distress ect. ect. ect. But Zelda has been somewhat rigid in terms of gameplay. You have a weapon, you have enemies you kill with that weapon. You go through some sort of "trial" usually in the form of a dungeon or temple, some more trials and then you kill the main bad guy. That's really all Zelda has ever been. Then you look at Mario and you see that, in terms of gameplay, he's had much more experiences on several different levels and even genres of gaming. Not to mention Zelda's more of a "realistic" (as much as it can be) fantasy setting and mario has a more, how to say it, toon setting. Not really toon but not as "serious" as zelda usually is. WW and PH and the like brought more flexibility to the series but still not quite as much as the Mario series.

Well, the idea could be very nice, Paper Mario is a great game, after all... But just think of the mess it would cause to the timeline theorists... XP

AoL, while action-oriented, has some RPG elements.

Re: Paper Zelda

I love the idea of a Paper Zelda, and I really wish Nintendo would do it. The Paper Mario series was so charming and fun; a Zelda version would make me so happy. Imagine all the cuteness and humor of the Paper Mario games transferred to Zelda. I think the thought of a Paper Zelda has me more excited than the actual truth of Zelda Wii.

Re: Paper Zelda

NO! As cute as that would sound, Nintendo seriously needs to stop appealing to younger audiences. Keep the realistic art, please.

Re: Paper Zelda

Paper Mario doesn't really appeal to younger audiences any more than any other Mario game does. In fact, I'd argue it is less accessible. Besides, tWW was aimed at the younger audience than TP, and yet tWW was the superior game.

You and I used to be a part of that younger audience.

In fact, if they hadn't catered to the young audience in the first place, I wouldn't be playing games today (most likely). I won't condemn Nintendo for allowing kids to play video games. Children could play the original LoZ, afterall.

They could not, however, play Mortal Kombat for the SNES.

No crossovers for me too. But I'd like some cameos.
