World socialism I have no problem envisioning. Communism just doesn't seem likely to follow.

Which is understandable- it'd be incredibly difficult to understand and predict the shift to communism if you weren't already socialist. Likewise, if you were living in a slave society (A two class society in which the lower class is controlled directly by the upper class, who is one individual or a very small group individuals, often perceived to be a god or gods.) how could you envision a society in which goods are freely traded without the supervision of a supreme ruler? A very, very small portion of the society likely even saw that as possible, however, the less radical idea of giving control of sections of land which you own to people directly below you, and allowing them to do the same in order to lessen the burden on the supreme ruler became very popular- and from that point we saw a drop in micromanagement from the supreme leader, thus, capitalism became more and more believable.
So, how could we possibly live in a society without laws or capital? It might not make sense today, but when living in a society in which you make the laws, and capital is awarded based upon the amount of work contributed, it might make a little more sense.

No, Socialism, but no Communism. The nations of the world will most likley use socialism in their economy, but not in their government, and I doubt they'll even try to push toward communism.

Why do you say that? We seem to be moving in the direction of a democracy or representative democracy, so why would this just suddenly be abandoned?
