Are you scared to die?

Pretty simple question, methinks.

As for myself, I am deathly afraid of dying (See what I did there? ). Being agnostic, and somewhat atheist (if that's possible) and thus not knowing whether or not there is a God, or an Allah, or whatever, dying scares the hell out of me. On one hand, if there really is no supreme being watching us up in the sky with his physics-bending, all-seeing eye watching over us constantly, then what happens when we die? Do we close our eyes and then...that's it? Infinite darkness forever? Are we reborn as someone else? On the other hand, if there is a supreme being, then how do I know I will go to heaven, or Nirvana, or whatever? I've led a good life so far, I think, but if I were to die tomorrow, would I be forgiven for not believing? And if not, then I'm going to Hell. An eternity of suffering and pain. It will NEVER stop. And it scares the **** out of me.

I'm more afraid of the events leading up to death than I am of actually dying. The reason for this is that I am firm in my faith, and I do believe that there is life after death. However, the thought of great suffering before that last moment is quite unnerving.

I firmly believe in an afterlife. I'm more afraid of losing my chance to get into Heaven than actually dying.

Besides, who wants to live in an imperfect world forever? Death will be the next great adventure.

I'm not afraid of dyin, its a perfectly fine thing that'll happe. I'm afraid of losin the people close to me in death...

No. I do not follow the thought of fearing that which I do not know. Instead, I am fascinated.

I disagree, I would refuse passage to heaven less I be allowed to keep an eye on Earth...

Theres far to many things I want to see and even at death I feel I would prefer to remain...

Course I'm an atheist, if I die I wont realise I died... Cause I'd be dead.

Death is just a part of life and I have accepted it. I realize it could happen at any second. And it's okay.
I'm more afraid of my very close loved ones dying.
I'm also more afraid of being in pain than I am of dying.

After all, when I'm dead I will either be living somewhere/some how else(like an after life). Or if there is no afterlife, then I will be gone, thus will not be able to think, and thus will not be able to care or have fear.
I could really care less if there is an afterlife or not. If there isn't its not like we will know.

I am afraid of dying. I am an Atheist so as it stands I believe in no afterlife, however, if there were to be one, you would wake up to anything after death instantaneously, as if from sleep.

I'm a firm believer in the afterlife as well

Thought my thoughts on death are always changing I believe I should really embrace it b/c you leave one life to begin another in a much better and more loving place ( Heaven)

But at the same time..........it can be scary to die in general

I guess it's sort-of a mind over matter thing

But when I do die, I just hope I have enough time to the face someone very particular, a girl that I really care about atleast one last time

In any case, I am afraid of dying because I believe somehow that I haven't accomplished enough yet. Premature death would definitely be...lame, to put it lightly.

I am not afraid to die anymore, I don't know if death hurts or how the transition is to the afterlife. I think that is what people are afraid of. They are afraid of the pain death MAY bring.

Why?I'm not afraid to die.I mean death is something natural and everybody needs to die.

I'm not really scared of dying, per se...although I am saddened, and somewhat disheartened, by the thought that I won't be here forever, and that I have absolutely no control over it whatsoever.

I have no idea what heaven actually is but I don't fear death. People who seek immortality are cowards and death is a natural part of life anyway.

I am not sure. I was very scared of dying when I was eleven years old. As I got older, I learnt about what my religion stated what will happen in the next life. After I never was scared of dying. Thinking about it just makes me feel uncomfortable, not scared. Sometimes I feel guilty, though I don't know why.

I am quite afraid to die, yet, at the same time I have accepted it, I accepted that it might when I signed my enlistment contract. I am not worried for myself, not at all, more so of what my death would do to those that I care about and that care about me. Ex: My girlfriend would be devastated, my Sisters would be even more devistated, my mother would probably end up killing herself. My father would go into a sever depression, my friends would miss the hell out of me Im sure.

So in an easier way to put it, I am not afraid of dying I am afraid of what my dying would do to others.

Okay, that sounded odd... is that normal?

Im afraid of dying a slow death. However, if I die in my sleep or if I die quickly then there are no worries. Most of us will die slowly and painfully, im afraid.

Just want to "third" these. Death itself doesn't scare me, why should it? It is, for all intents and purposes, identical to what you felt five years before you were born.


Dying, however, does scare me.
