Re: Are you scared to die?
Matthew 4:5-7 (New American Standard Bible)
5 Then the devil took Him into the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, 6and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, 'HE WILL COMMAND HIS ANGELS CONCERNING YOU'; and 'ON their HANDS THEY WILL BEAR YOU UP, SO THAT YOU WILL NOT STRIKE YOUR FOOT AGAINST A STONE.'" 7Jesus said to him, "On the other hand, it is written, 'YOU SHALL NOT PUT THE LORD YOUR GOD TO THE TEST.'" |

Re: Are you scared to die?
It's not testing, it's merely asking. "Will I go to heaven or will I stay on earth?"; not "I dare you, kill me!".

Re: Are you scared to die?
What you'd be advocating is disrespectful to God. He's no genie.
The question of "Will I go to heaven or will I stay on earth?" can be asked without the presence of an oncoming train. Remember, in prayer: James 4:3 3You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. And in such a scenario, is that glorifying the body that God gave me? Is that building up a temple for the Holy Spirit to reside in, to be shown off? It'd be throwing it away. If God needs to kill me off with a train, let Him do it. But I'm not going to play games with Him. |

You're basing this of what, exactly?

Re: Are you scared to die?
I do not fear death. Fear of an end is always a pointless worry. Once something ends, it goes no further.
You die, and you suffer no more, for you are no more. If there is something after this life, I can live it when I begin it. Only one religion punishes those who don't actively believe in it. I could care less for anyone or anything that bullies, intimidates, or coerces anyone into following it. All others simply give people their dues, and I have done nothing that would give me cause to worry. Contemplating the end is a worthless pursuit. It can only create stress.

Re: Are you scared to die?
I'm not afraid of it, death is a natural thing in life. A relative of mine has serious cancer and probably won't survive 2009, still he's calm because, as he says it, "everyone'll die eventually".
I choose to "carpe diem" instead of worrying about death (which probablty won't happen for me for 60-70 years anyway). |

Re: Are you scared to die?
I'm basing this off the Scripture I just quoted to you. You asked a question that was virtually the same as what Satan asked Jesus in the Bible. Jesus has a great response to the question. And if that answer doesn't satisfy you, I'm afraid I can't do any better.

Re: Are you scared to die?
I'm not christian or so, so i'm a bit more realistic about dying. I was once thinking about how dying would be. You're brain is one of the motors of you're body. It provides your eyes, your thoughts, everything.
If you die, it shuts down. So.. your basically .. not thinking.. not seeing.. You're just.. i dunno.. like you've fainted, but for ever :| ![]() and that's kinda the reason why i'm afraid for death. |

Re: Are you scared to die?
Why? You'd not be able to experience that absence of everything.
It is like worrying about being eaten by a shark when you live in the middle of the desert.

Re: Are you scared to die?
Fear of death is common. Most people are afraid, for one reason or another. This I can't say, because where there is an end, there is a beginning. In other words, death is just an ending. Life after death is a whole new adventure. No, I'm not christian or any other religion. I just hope that I won't die tomorrow, but if I do, I just go along with whatever comes my way and deal with it. If I go to hell for eternal suffering, so be it. I wouldn't personally like being burned, but that's just me. I treasure life, and I don't regret one thing I've done while I'm alive.

Re: Are you scared to die?
Most likely when you die, that is simply it. No more you. You cease to exist.
Concentrate on the live you have.

Edit Also I have only one fear regarding death, and that's that I don't want to miss what happens after I die. If the whole world exploded when I died, I'd be totally okay with my demise |

How do you know that you're going to heaven?

Re: Are you scared to die?
I'm not afraid to die, because when I do die, my body is going to be put in cryogenics and once technology is advanced enough, I will be brought back to life.

Re: Are you scared to die?
AMEN!
But really. I've heard from enough people who have died and been resuscitated that dying in itself really isn't painful, and it happens quicker than falling asleep. Apparently, all your pain goes away and you "sink" into yourself. Now, I'll leave this last part up to debate, but according to thousands of people who have died, religious or not, after "sinking" into yourself you are suddenly in the air above your body going towards some sort of "all-loving" white light, and... you know the drill. Now, despite what many people believe, this phenomenon has been studied by scientists and they have proven that it is in fact something that happens after one dies. How to explain it scientifically, however, no one had a clue. Weird, much? You decide. But look it up, if you don't believe me. Could it eventually be explained by science? Possibly. But perhaps there is more to the universe than we give it credit for. Source

The..."symptoms" of a near death experience are perfectly easy to account for: It's your brain shutting down. The fact that we cannot say: "Alright, now this specific neuron has stopped firing, so they'll experience this exactly." doesn't mean we don't understand it.
