Anyway... Being a Christian, I believe in heaven after death, so no I'm not really afraid of death itself. I do hope the way I die isn't something terribly painful or anything, but the thought of being dead I don't mind. Quote:

Re: Are you scared to die?
since I don't believe in an "afterlife," I am not at all afraid of death.
I suppose dying might be painful though, and I'm sure I would rather live than die if only to get more things done. |

Re: Are you scared to die?
Dying is one of my two greatest fears. It's not so much the dying itself... being a Christian, I've got the whole Heaven thing on my side. But sometimes, I really worry when I think about what other people will do when I pass away. When I think about my family, or my friends, or my girlfriend... it scares me to think how they might react to my death. I mean, I just imagine how I would be if my girlfriend, God forbid, passed away... I'd be a total wreck. I don't know how I'd keep living. I don't want anybody else to feel that way because of my death.
Basically, I don't worry about dying because of myself... I worry about it because of others.

Re: Are you scared to die?
I'm scared of dying. I'm afraid of oblivion and nonexistence. I do believe in an afterlife, but what if I'm wrong and, when I die, I just stop existing? That scares me.
I'm also scared of what death will feel like. Will it hurt to die?

Re: Are you scared to die?
No, I don't believe in heaven or hell, god or Satan. But, I know that death WILLcome for me sooner or later. I am grateful that I am alive today and tomorrow, and so on.Also, I am living every day the way I want it. If I were to die today, I would try my absolute best to live on because this world is so great. Look at all the good society's given to the world. Also look at the bad. I think that even though this world has killed so much it is worth fighting for one more day of life here, with all the games(which is my life's passion), art, or anything else you enjoy. Also, there will be an impact on people, everyone you know if you die.Don't think no one will care if you die because people will.
Simply put, if I was going to die, I would do my utmost to stop those actions and live another day. But, if the events were unstoppable, acceptance would come that my life here has come to an end, but another would be just beginning. No, this doesn't mean that I believe in life after death, or reincarnation, just that death is another beginning, another adventure to start.

I am not afraid of death.
I came close to it a couple of years ago when I was playing paintball with my friends. |

Re: Are you scared to die?
Even without a God or any supernatural action, reincarnation is not only possible but probable. You are no doubt aware that part of the concept of reincarnation is that you are cleansed of all memory of your former life? Then consider this: when you die, your remains decay. So long as they are returned to the earth, they will be re-assimilated into the food chain, and the atoms that once made 'you' will eventually become something else: a plant, a cow, a person. In all likelihood, they'll be distributed among many things, and you'll be part of a person, cow AND plant all at the same time. So yes, you'll be reincarnated. You HAVE been reincarnated, in fact: almost everything your mother ate when she was pregnant with you was alive at some time or another. Ashes to ashes - and ashes make great fertiliser to feed plants, which feed animals, which feed another person. You just won't remember anything (unless you pass your knowledge on for your next self by writing a book or something). It's called the Circle of Life.
Of course, it all depends on the way you look at it. |

Re: Are you scared to die?
i'm not afraid of death, but of the afterlife.
this is because i am a christian that is afraid of the church. this is because my dad would beat me about every not perfect comment about church... then we came to the usa, where it's illegal to be kids! but i'm still afraid... so bassically, i'm not afraid of death, i'm afraid of what comes after.

Re: Are you scared to die?
I agree with the poster above-- no matter what we'll be 'reincarnated' into something else. At least our energy & atoms will be. Infact I heard someone once say every person alive today has atoms from almost every other human that lived before him.
And about death: we may actually be the generation that conquers death. I think they've already been able to double the life of mammals such as rats & mice. I'm sure by the time I'm 50 they would have immortality figured out. |

As for dying-- I want to go out on my own terms. I definently don't want to be 90-something years old & still alive in pain. That would suck. |

Re: Are you scared to die?
I'm not afraid of dying; being so would be retarded. Its like saying your afraid of getting hungry, or afraid of blinking. I just don't want to die in certain ways but when it happens, it happens.

Re: Are you scared to die?
I'm not really afraid of death, because of my religion, but I can't stop thinking about what if I'm wrong and if I die, it's the end? Sometimes I sit down and think about what it would be like not to ever do anything or even think about things ever again, that's what terrifies me, simply not being. Death I can handle, not oblivion.
