God says: All gay-haters should be burned to death.

Now besides some silly books written by men with penis issues, there is no prove that God doesn't actually approves homosexuality.

If we take a closer look at it we have the gay community who just wants to live their lives in freedom and on the other side we have religious people that spread hate and deep down inside would like to kill all those that don't follow their faith.

Religion is a silly thing, on one side it says you should love the human next to you, you should be open-minded and be kind.

On the other side, what happens is quite the opposite: Religious wars, closed minds and the spreading of hate and outlawing of those who do not follow the faith.

So my point is, isn't against all believes to hate on the gay community?

And yet it's going to continue and people will not see the flaw in their logic because they're simply close-minded.

I can't even see a good reason to be against gay marriage but I can atleast accept that people are and may have a good reason. But to be against homosexuality is just senseless.

Christians are supposed to try and follow what Jesus did. I don't recall Jesus hating on minorities. In fact, most of his disciples weren't exactly high-class people, if you catch my drift. So why do some Christians continue to hate minorities that have done no harm to them?

If people can rid the Bible of its sexism, claiming they don't believe in those ideas, then why not Homophobia? They say "it is not God's will" to just about everything.

I doubt anyone understands God's will completely.

This is all because some Christians misunderstand what they read. It is true that the Bible says homosexuality is wrong for Christians. It says if your a Christian, you shouldn't be homosexual. It does not say that we should go around trying to keep gays from being able to marry and stuff like that. It doesn't really matter if nonChristians break Christian laws, because those laws do not apply to them. It would be like if Jews went around trying to ban bacon because it goes against thier laws.

The whole homoseuality is wrong rule only applies to Christians, not everybody, a fact that some Christians don't understand.

Bottom line, and I mean the very bottom line: Christians who oppose or support anything with their basis being the Bible will always pick-and-choose which verses are to be taken literally (read: which verses work for their own opinions), and which ones are to be taken symbollically (read: which verses make their religion look bad).

"Thou shalt not lie with man as he does woman, for it is abomination." ~Leviticus 18:22

This is, according to Christians, literal verse. It follows their own personal sociopolitical beliefs, therefore giving them an excuse to abuse the first amendment and shove it down the throats of the masses.

"Deuteronomy 21:18-21 If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and who, when they have chastened him, will not heed them, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city, to the gate of his city. And they shall say to the elders of his city, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.’ Then all the men of his city shall stone him to death with stones; so you shall put away the evil from among you, and all Israel shall hear and fear." ~Deuteronomy 21:18-21

This, of course, is symbolic verse. If taken literally, it would make Christianity look very, very bad, and it doesn't flow with the sociopolitical belief system of the Christian in question. Therefore it couldn't possibly be literal.

In the end, what I find strikingly ironic is that in the Book of Leviticus, merely one chapter after the infamous 18:22 verse lies this one:

"Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD. " ~Leviticus 19:18

It is no one's place to condemn--that is a sin. So yes, you are right. In the Christian religion, condemning gays is a hypocritical sin. And in my own personal opinion, so is the entire "In order to protect our own immortal souls, we're not going to codemn you, instead we're gonna tell you you're sinning and hope you pray-away-the-gay" fallacy. That is no different.

Disclaimer: I have nothing against moderate Christians, nor do I believe all Christians share the above beliefs. Living in the heart of the Bible belt, however, I am exposed daily to the bigotry of radical Christianity.

Honestly: if Christians ignored the Old Testament and focused on the four Gospels, the Bible would get 1000 times less bigoted overnight. And a lot less contradictory, too.

I agree. The New Testamate is where all of Christianity's core beliefs come from. There are a few useful bits in the Old Testament, but most of the laws were rewritten by the New (ex. sacrafices are no longer neccesary, no more "unclean" foods, stuff like that).

Its logical to assume that a nonChristian doesn't have to follow Christian laws, just like someone who isn't an American citizen doesn't have to follow American laws.
