Either the kid had a shotgun (which I doubt), or he was simply playing around with a pellet/air gun -- the latter is mostly likely.
Despite the fact that the child
didn't have a real gun in his possession, his parents should be weary of where they keep their toys. The child has seems to have some anger issues, which reflects the child's parents. Something that should be treated.
I don't know why this was newsworthy, as a pellet gun doesn't actually hurt that much. I've been shot point blank by one. It'll leave a good welt on you, but nothing permanent.
