Abortion: Good or Bad?

Oh, come on! You saw this coming, didn't you?

Post your opinions on abortion. Should it be legalized? Is it moral?

Personally, I believe it should be legal, to let people make their own choices, but I still believe it is morally wrong, as it is a form of murder.

What do you think?

ANYONE who thinks abortion is good is a sick bastard.

abortion is terrible.

BUT I firmly believe it should remain legal.

Proper sex education, resources, support, and supplies reduce abortion rates far more effectively than simply outlawing it.

While I think abortion should remain legal, and available to every woman, there is something incredibly off-putting of imagining women freely walking into hospitals willy-nilly and just having fetuses ripped out of them.

Needs to be more enphasises on sex education during school.

I believe that abortion, while not "wrong" in all cases, is a terrible thing. even if the woman KNOWS she doesn't want the baby and is sure that she needs/wants an abortion, it's not like
"Yippe skippy, I'm off to the clinic to kill my baby!!!"

you know what I mean? It's not something to go "oh yay abortion is great!"
I believe it is necessary to be legal.

At the same time, I wich I could punch the women who have unprotected sex simply cuz they're too lazy or stupid to use protection, and then go get an abortion (an ex co-worker of mine. gag.)

This topic has been done to death already, although I'll put my two cents in once more. I don't find myself liking the idea of abortion, and I don't think anybody else does either, but I can't deny that sometimes, it's for the best. Pregnancies that threaten the physical or mental health/well-being of a woman, or pregnancies in the case of rape or incest, I fully support the choice of abortion, as I believe in the priority of adult women over that of the unborn. I support adoption equally, and although it's nice when people decide to have children anyway and give them up for adoption instead of choosing abortion, not everybody can do that, and I wouldn't think any less of somebody that chose one option over the other. It's up to them, as it's their business, not mine.

As a woman myself, I choose control over my own body, and I don't feel that anybody else has the right to take that control away from me.

I'm pro abortion, but I believe it should be implemented in a manner which requires both parents' permission.

I wasn't aware I was repeating a thread. Sorry about that. And won't putting a child up for adoption have some kind of negative effect on the child?

Abortion is neutral.

The right to have one is good.

As Margar said: No one thinks: "Yay, today I get to abort a fetus!" that would be...somewhat disturbing, really.

That said, no one should be condemned for getting an abortion, since no one other than the mother is harmed by it. The fetus is not capable of feeling pain, thinking, or anything at all, really, so it certainly isn't suffering or being harmed.

I have a good friend who was adopted because his parents were 16 and 15, he is pretty glad he was adopted.

If it is even a fetus at the time of abortion.

I think people need to stop equating fetus with baby. The two are not the same.

A fetus isn't any more a baby then a sperm.

"Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is His reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate."—Psalm 127:3-5.

Considering how a lot of people don't respond well to this source, i'm not sure if this will help, but here is a passage regarding children to be a reward. Who could not want an award? Of course this has nothing to do with incompatibility to raise the child.

"Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto Me, I will surely hear their cry. And My wrath shall wax hot."—Ex 22:22. (Deut 10:18; 14:29.)

And here's one for rape cases.

"And Jesus called a little child unto Him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in My name receiveth Me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in Me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea."—Matthew 18:2-5. (Mark 10:5.)

It says to not even offend a child, let alone kill one.

Indeed, but fetuses are not children.
