As far as I know, however, U.S. law only recognizes fetuses as victims if they are injured or killed during other violent crimes anyway, and abortion is not considered a violent crime.
That's...rather odd, actually.

I am somewhat obligated to say that I don't think that mandating which stage of life a being must reach before it is considered worth protecting from injury, mutilation, and/or death is a progressive way of thinking at all. I consider it discrimination in the same sense that differing legal protection based upon age, sex, race, socioeconomic class, culture, religion, marital status, sexuality, un/employment, etc. is discriminatory. How legally protecting the right to dispose of unwanted human beings is beneficial to society is quite beyond me.
I do see where you're coming from, but I'd argue that the main problem with discrimination is the harm it causes to those discriminated against. A fetus, not being conscious or capable of feeling pain suffers no harm from having fewer rights.

(Bad phrasing, there, actually. Clearly being dead counts as harm, but the fetus not only doesn't care, it cannot care, nor be aware of what's going on. Whereas the mother is and is actively suffering harm from the fetus.)

Re: Abortion vs. Adoption

My mother was pro McCain, but she actually disagreed with Palin's plan to make it so parents had to consent to abortions. I said I would be for that, but she said some people may be against abortion enough that they'd refuse to give consent even if their child's life was in danger. Which is something I didn't think about.

Biden probably made vice president, so I guess we don't have to worry about that for now.

Re: Abortion vs. Adoption

What exactly are you looking for in terms of information regarding adoption?

I didn't say anything, I linked you to a government website

Here' s another source.

And if you think I'll give unreliable info, you could always use this.

^ Don't be a smart-@ss.

Besides, U.S. government source websites are only as good as the think-tanks they are derived from (if any at all).

Each one has its own slant or "agenda".

It's only courteous if you are going to provide a source that is questionable--or is questioned--to provide another source.

Re: Abortion vs. Adoption

The problem is that there was no clarification as to what kind of information she is asking for.

If she is looking for information that describes the bad side of adoptions and foster care, she won't be finding it on a government website.

Re: Abortion vs. Adoption

Then the best thing to do would would either be to search the media or search for the opinions of people who have dealt with it.

Searching for this type of thing will never end up in a positive light. I have heard of very bad tastes when some people I know looked at the bad side of abortion. Their lives will never be healed again.
