Phelps to Protest at Heath Ledger's Funeral

Or so I've heard. I can't be bothered to find a news link, due to the fact that I'm making this on the Wii.

But supposedly, our old 'God hates fags' friend Fred Phelps is to order a protest at Heath Ledger's funeral, due to him playing a homosexual in Brokeback Mountain.

Um... Well Fred Phelps has to be the worlds biggest jackass....
I know that then Matthew Shepard had that happen to him, but what the hell did Heath Ledger do to him?

It's as I said in that post, it's because Heath played a gay cowboy in a movie. And Fred didn't have enough buttsecks, so he hates any and every gay.

No, he is bringing signs that say, "God Hates Fags".

Heath Ledger played a gay man in Brokeback Mountian.... Which is why he is doing this. Phelps does not like gay people... Which is completely idiotic in my opinion.

So he isn't protesting then. He's just making a statement.
Is Heath Ledger even gay? If he isn't then his statements are not applicable. Even if God hated gays, if Heath isn't actually gay then it wouldn't be relevant.

This brings up the question, should this type of activity be permitted. Is there really a valid reason to allow people to disrupt a funeral process?

No idea, but these people have been protesting at funerals for quite some time now, most of them soldiers who died in Iraq. However, some legal action has been taken, but they still persist on doing this.

Yeah, I remember them protesting the funerals of fallen soldiers. Personally, I would have killed every single one of those "protesters" if I was there.

He protests at military funerals because he feels that the US military is corrupt for allowing gays to serve (never mind that Don't Ask, Don't Tell is a bigoted idea)

He said he'll protest at this one because Mr. Ledger portrayed a gay character as a good person.

However, since the funeral is in Australia and Phelps has just said that he would never go to a place as corrupt as Australia, there is essentially 0 chance of him actually being there.

Phelps' argument is more: "Anyone who is in any way sympathetic to anyone who is gay or has been sympathetic to gays is a horrible person."

There is. It's called Free Speech.

There is no justifiable reason to quiet opinions you don't agree with, no matter what they are.

I should note: All Phelps is after is publicity. He has openly said many times that it's too late for anyone to be saved. You could repent now and it'd be too late.

So he simply does this because he, and his cult, enjoy being asses.

So just ignore them. In the past they've just gone home if no one payed attention to them.

These people really piss me off... and for the most part I only stay pissed off at something for maybe an hour.... couple days tops.

I also hate how they use America's constitution , while activly supporting the idea that God hates America. If god hates america then... why are they in America, and better yet, why are they using its constitution. One would think that if they truely believe God hates America that they would avoid using its constitution.

What the U.S. should do is make whateve town they are in not part of America anymore. Then Bush can claim they have WMD... or just you know claim they are with Osama Bin Laden. Send some troops in to take care of that.

Heh... I bet almost everyone in America would think a little bit better of Bush...

Free Speech is a bs excuse in this situation. It's basically saying "There is nothing wrong with harassing people at a funeral because I'm allowed to say what I want."

It's not saying that there is nothing wrong, it's saying that the harm caused by stifling opinions you don't agree with is far greater than the harm caused by protesting at funerals.

I agree with that stance.
