Re: Drinking: How often is too often?

yeah, it depends on where you live. but just to be safest, don't drive at al if you've been drinking. have everyone pitch in a few dollars for cab fare before you go out, or have a DD

I agree with that. Though, some cabbies may not wish to take on passengers who have have been drinking for fear of "messes" that may occur :S

Re: Drinking: How often is too often?

I always drink around friends and coworkers, so I can rely on someone taking me home. Often it will be one of the guys whose home is out my way anyway.

I don't think many people realize that drinking that stuff makes your brain cells shrivel up and die. I don't dare touch the stuff.

I don't think many people payed attention in health class. Alchohol itsself is not harmful to your body, as your body makes the stuff. It's just when taken in exccessive amounts when it's harmful. Just like medication and many other things.

That's why it's legal.

Re: Drinking: How often is too often?

The closest thing to Health Class in My country is Biology :S.
But Daphnes is indeed correct.
The body does make alcohol.
Alcohol is also produced,if I'm not mistaken somewhere in the process of baking bread
(you'll have to excuse me,I haven't done bio or chem in ages so I can't remember...)

Alcohol helps to clean the system(body).Small amounts are indeed good for the body.
Excess Alcohol intake destroys body parts for example the liver...

Incorrect. Listen to what Daphnes is saying.

I drink 2-3 times a week. And I'm definately not an alcoholic. It really takes a lot to get to the level of addiction. You basically have to get wasted every day for a pretty decent amount of time. One day you realise that you can't stop.

In Denmark the legal drinking age is 16. However, in pubs, bars, cafés, etc. where the alcohol is served to you, you have to be 18.

Re: Drinking: How often is too often?

Personally if I drink more than one weekend in a row I feel like an alchololic. I like to keep it down to like once a month. It makes me feel a bit sick the next day if I have to much.

Plus sleeping on someone else's carpet because i can't drive home is not the best.

I'd dare say it's legal more because of cultural reasons than health reasons. Alcohol and tobacco are both far worse for you than marijuana is, yet the latter is illegal. It's because it lacks a cultural precedent to the Western European descended elite of the U.S.

You're right. Some things are just too ingrained into society to be made illegal. They're trying to get rid of ciggarette smoking, but it's a very hard battle. Alchohol is probably the same way.

Re: Drinking: How often is too often?

Dear sir,
Everyone has their own limits. You should always take your time when drinking and when you start to feel something, I say that you shoudl take the hint, and work off of how you feel after one drink of this, or one drink of that.
Once you start sitting around the house and drinking cause you're bored, that's a sign. When you want to drink and you just keep going on and on about how all you wanna do is drink, it's usually a sign of a problem.

Like most people said, stay within your limits, and just take your time. I see you've said you never got so drunk you passed out or had a horrible hang over, so then you're good. If you're upset that it takes more for a buzz, then drink less often so you're not used to it. Of course you could always go for something with a little more kick, but be careful.

For instance, I love tequila. My body can handle it. But majority of my friends get soooo sick from it, like, right away. So just be careful with what you do.

Enjoy yourself, but please, be careful.

Best wishes and best of luck
AEF

Re: Drinking: How often is too often?

the best way possible is the safest way possible. i'd rather not ever drink rather than risk ever getting addicted in my life. its the same with smoking. sure, once in a while wont do much but it can get addictive.
its like daphnes said on the first post, alcohol has started to affect him slightly.
and the people that say "you're scared of beer!" are the same type of people that fall victim to peer pressure and all that.

Small ammounts every so often is fine in my books.

This guy who came over one day was drinking since sunrise to sunrise almost. Never do that.
