I have never been sobered like this...

As the title says, my spontanious and somewhat random personality has been put on hold for a indefinite amount of time.

About four months ago, I met a very kind and sweet-hearted girl who also was an avid writer. Of course, we almost immediately became friends.

Over the past few months, we've met during lunch and showed each other the various writing pieces we've done of the past few days, many of which I have posted up on ZU. Both of us like poetry.

She and I also have the same gastric (having to do with the stomach) sickness, which is not so good, but I have a feeling that this happened for a reason that is beyond my human comprehension.
The thing is however, as I have begun to recover, she has gotten worse.

This is what sobered me:

Yesterday, she told me that during a routine test her doctors found a small black spot on the scans of her head, more specifically her brain stem.

I'm not a doctor, and I have no idea what this could mean, but it's ominous...

She's going to be taking series of tests that will put her out of school for the next week, so I've been praying for her.

I was wondering if any of you guys have had experiences akin to this?

Re: I have never been sobered like this...

I guess you could say my experience is almost nothing like that. I have a heart murmur which means that when my heart beats there is a swishing noise. It is actually common, mostly among infants though. You know how they give ultrasounds to pregnant women well they did the same thing except to my heart. It was kind of scary because the doctors didn't diagnose it as a heart murmur yet. But, after my my freaking out so much that she was driving me crazy, the doctors told us that everything was fine.

My experience wasn't as dramatic as the one your friend is having but, nonetheless, being worried about someone is being worried about someone. No matter what illness or problem they have.

I am not a religious man, so I won't pray to God, but I shall have here in my thoughts. Hope this helped somewhat.

May She Be In Our Hopeful Thoughts
-Alex

It might just be a glitch in the system. If they don't know what it is, it might not be anything to worry about. I think you and your friend will have many more good years, somehow.

Re: I have never been sobered like this...

Man, I don't know what to say, Alehandro. A black dot on her brain stem? That can't possibly be good... Something tells me that the good-natured "Don't worry" responses you're getting are heavily unfounded. I may not be a doctor, but I was always rather fond of Biology class. I can't tell you what it is--though you probably wouldn't expect that--but I can say that it won't help whatever's going wrong.

Nevertheless, I wish both you and your good friend the best of luck. I know what it's like to be traumatized, more so even than her. I live in constant fear that I may someday revert to what I... used to be... If that ever happens, I hope to the dear, sweet Lord that no one else is around to witness it. For their sake... God, I hate that damn doctor who delivered me... The first thirteen miserable years of my life were all his fault.

Oh gosh, that can't be good at all! I really hope she gets better, as the way it sounds, is not an easy thing to get rid of. I really, really hope she gets better. When you find out more information, and feel that you want to post it on ZU, please do.

Re: I have never been sobered like this...

Just to clarify, it could help if we knew specifically what kind of scans they were?

I beleive it was MRI.

She just went through a series of tests again today. I'll be able to talk to her after Thanksgiving break.

First of all, I'm so sorry that this has happened to you, and to her. My condolences to you both. *HUGHUG*

When you said "black spot" it made me think of Meningitis. I certainly hope it's not that -- but whatever it is, I hope it will go into remission at some point.

Give her my regards, please.

well dude, don't perseverate on it too much, whatever will happen will happen, and all you can do is be there for her. Stuff like this sucks, I have no idea what the black spot means, but hell, thats why we have tests, I hope to god its nothing.

Man... ... Jeez. Well first of all I would like to say that I hope its just a thumbprint or just a dark spot or a mistake or whatever. Second of all I would like to say that I feel sorry for her if its bad and even if its not for all the worry she must have and for you for all the worrying you must be going through, but there really is nothing more you can do except pray that she will be all right. Though I do not know you or her I will pray for peace of mind and that she will be ok for both her and you.
