Re: The end is nigh?

I'm just thinking something...didn't someone say that mankind is destroying the environment? If so, then we're possibly killing ourselves with all the air, water, and soil pollution. If we do this and in the next hundred years or so, we may not be able to drink water because of the toxic in it, nor breath air because of the harmful substances in it.

I'm not saying that the scenerio WILL happen or WILL NOT happen, nor am i saying that it will happen in 2012 or 2998, i'm just saying that it's a possibility.

It's sort of sad when you think about it, our selfish deeds are condemning our future generations to live in a much worser world. (Think about it. Will the air still be breathable for those people in 3005, a thousand years from now, like it is now?)

I know i sound like i hate technology, but what i am trying to say is that if we pay just a tiny bit more attention to the state of the environment and DO something to help it, but at the same time, continue with our way of life, i'm sure something good may come out of it.

every day could be the last

Admittedly, the world does seem to be going downhill fast. The Bible does fortell great calamities in the end of days. If you are a Christian and believe in what the Bible says about the end of days then you should be wary, be alert, but do not be afraid because God will protect his people. The disasters do call to attention the fact that Christians should be vigilant always, for no one knows the day nor the hour of the return of Christ and the end of the world. We must live every day as if it were our last, even if that sounds cliche`.

Re: The end is nigh?

here are my thoughts...

The bible states, that if a country attacks Isreal, then that country will be cursed. Now few of you probably don;t believe in curses, and i myself think it sounds strange, but look at whats happening. Our country gave the Gaza (spelling???) strip to the muslims, therefor forcing the jews out. This isn't nessesarly attacking Isreal, but it is harming the people in a bad way. Thats why i think we are getting several natural dissasters everywhere, and yes, i think it is close to the end of the world, probably with in the next 10 years i would say.

OK, I know the earth can maybe resist al these pressure. But this is about:"will this be the end of man-kind?" And I'm sure it will be the end.

Re: The end is nigh?

i say! did anyone know that the jews are starting to get on rebuilding the jewish temple? they have most of the things they need now too! im guessing that holds some relevance, considering that many bible prophecys include the temple.

another thing. in jesus' day, people travelled at the speed of horseback, and sent messages at the speed of written letter. in george washingtons day they travelled at the speed of horseback, and sent messages at the speed of written letter. now, in our day, we travel at the speed of sound, and send messages at the speed of light! kinda fishy wouldnt you say? and just recently it has become possible for people to see one event happening from all over the world, at the same time! clearly the end is nigh!

ya......ummmm, what does this have to do with the conversation at hand? i mean i can understand if you were trying to say, The end times must be near, God wouldnt let that happen, but you didnt even say that. seriously.

This may be sarcastic, I'm afraid it's fairly hard to tell, so I'll assume it isn't and my apologies if it is.

In George Washington's day letters could also travel by the speed of boats, which were faster then horses, more people were capable of writing letters, and a common education system still hadn't been made.

Now that most people at least have some chance to be educated many of them create many things that are much better then older ones. We still can't communicate well at the speed of light, (The fastest cable being Fibre Optics, which go at something like 2/3 the speed of light) and few are the people who can travel at supersonic speeds.

Re: The end is nigh?

The Mayans predicted that the world would end on December 12, 2012. They could be right, but I myself think that it's just a superstition. I think that if the world ended, it would be by war, particularly of a nuclear aspect.

I admit it, I'm guilty of posting in threads without reading all the way through them, but that doesn't make it any less annoying.

Views have already been exchanged on the Mayans, not only did they not think that the World would end then, even if they did how could they possibly know? It helps my point that modern day Mayans gave up using their old calender.

Also, a nuclear war could not destroy the Earth, it couldn't even come close, remember, in order to blow up the planet Earth, which has a mass of 5.9736×10^24 kg. each kg has to be accelerated to 11km/s to split the earth apart. I couldn't find any numbers on how much energy it takes to accelerate 1 KG to that speed, but I feel very safe in saying that there is no possible way we can do that now.

Re: The end is nigh?

The end of the world is close. I don't think it's gonna happen soon. But the bible did say that natural disasters and wars would be happening frequently. The war in the middle east I don't think means anything though. The press just makes things look worse than they are. But the natural disasters are real. I think the end of the world is coming though. I think it will probably happen though when I'm maybe about 60 though (just a guess) if not then, then later. I'm not worried about it though. I'm a very active christian.

Re: The end is nigh?

I think perhaps at best, the world will end for humans. I descend from Aztecs and Mayans, I fully believe in the humans of past whom died for one reason or another.

The Giants.
The Lizardmen.

There's no denying it, when we "evolve" beyond normal animals and develop a sense of self, we create a huge chance of destroying our own civilization.. That's how I believe We are born in sin..

Frankly, it seems awfuly immature for The Bible to play the blame game on God or the devil for the things that will befall man.

Water turning into blood.
Plague and pestilance.

Did anyone stop to think this could be our own doings? We refuse to listen to the warning signs, and will rape our planet to the point of we can't even use it. Nature will find a way to work around it and manage, we won't, and we'll inevitably die..

I don't much care about if the world does come to an end or not. I don't really have anyone I can honostly say I care about enough to much hope for them to live out the rest of thier life.. I've never seen life give something THAT spectacular.. Nothing without 10x more struggle, pain, and backlash.. Frankly, hummanity's end could possibly be the best damn thing that could happen to us..
