Re: "Holy" Sony Commercial

Sick - that is all I can say.
As a Christian, I am disgusted with the insensitivity and sacriligous-ness of the commercial.
The fact that it is to advertise a game console is even worse!
I cannot believe that a company can stoop to such a level, as to deem their product divine, I mean, to have a product having a light shining onto it, and the 'heaven's Choir' singing in the backround, like for Philidelphia spread, is just inronicaly funny, but to specifically use the figure of Jesus to promote such a thing - it is revolting!
I can officially say that Sony does officially suck.

Sony isn't going down the right track. They will fall on their kness and beg for us Chritians to come back and play their games. But hell no, I'm not.

Re: "Holy" Sony Commercial

Not a very good buisness move from sony and I'm sure people are going to remember this for awhile.

But on the other hand I doubt that many people outside of italy will hear about this but who knows.

You're kidding.....right?

Anyway, what did Sony think was going to happen? They were real idiots this time. Still, such an add isn't going to stop me from buying games for my PS2.

Re: "Holy" Sony Commercial

I'd say it was a bad decision and action by the marketing and advertisers of Sony's Playstation line.

Quoted for truth.

I pretty much agree though, Sony's marketing and advertising firm made a bit of a risqe decision to pull something like that off. However, I'm not going to hate Sony automaticly for it as it's not thier fault, but the advertising and marketing firms fault.

Think of it this way.. if Nintendo pulled something like this off, what would be your reaction?

<face style=stunned>Wow. Just wow.</face>

Hey, at least Sony didn't try to use that advertisement in the U.S., which is a considerably larger market than Italy. Can you imagine the field day the U.S. media would have with this kind of advertising?

I would equally be as appalled - maybe even more-so, since Nintendo, in my opinion, seems to dispaly a greater sensitivity to the public.
I wouls have expected such a move from Sony or Microsoft.
Never the less, I would be incredably disgusted with Nintendo if they pulled such a stunt.

Surely, after a new commercial is released, wouldn't it run by Sony officials for approval?
I mean, a company cannot feature a new product without the word of it's official Proprieter?
I could be wrong, I don't know how the system works, but I honestly think Sony would have seen the commercial, to allow it to be published.

No one will say anything because, fanboys stick to their company no matter what. Fanboys also hate other companies because they are blinded by fanboyism. I don't see the big deal though. I'm catholic and I don't see why it's offensive. I read the article and I don't know why this offends. Can someone clear it up?

While I don't find it offensive, I can see why others do.

It mocks Jesus and what he went through for us. The fact a video game company would compare itself to someone like Jesus is a bit much, but I don't see why we should get in such a fuss over it. They've apologized and the advertising department most likely has been whipped.

Bad move Sony

I'm not so much offended, but more to simply find it stupid of them to even attempt that. I kinda find it funny that they thought they'd get somewhere with mocking Christianity, even more that they're now apologizing, realizing what a dumb-ass ploy that was

I'll let "the big man upstairs" deal with them for now

I misread that as "burying"

I don't think this will damage Sony's reputation that much, though they may lose a few sales.

Re: "Holy" Sony Commercial

I can't say I'm offended by this, but I can easily understand why some people would be. To use Jesus for marketing purposes isn't the brightest or most ethical of ideas, given the strong presence that he has in the modern world and how likely it is that devoted followers would react to this negatively. They could've just made it a crown or something, it would have achieved a very similar effect without causing such an uproar. I assume they were going for a "Messiah of gaming" concept, where "King of gaming" would be just as effective, I think. Ah well. Again, I could really care less. It's just an ad.

To those who use this a reason to fuel your baseless hatred for Sony... please shutup. It was a mistake on the part of thier advertising division - other companies make mistakes, too. Give this whole "Sony sucks!" (or any company besides your almighty Nintendo) obsession a rest. It's really starting to get on my nerves.

Re: "Holy" Sony Commercial

Personally I thought it was pretty funny and find it pathetically sad that people are offended by it.
