Foul and loathsome

Hi, i'm just opening a thread to discuss something that you may have read about.

To put it bluntly, I've read in the newspaper that US soldiers in Iraq are swapping pictures of dead and (in some cases) mutilated Iraq people. What shocks me most is that some of these pictures go back to the First Gulf War.

But no, that doesn't shock me. What shocks me is this website knows that U.S. credit cards don't work in Iraq and other similar countries, so they actually tell them that "good" pictures of dead Iraqs can be used as currency!

Just to give some examples of what this site shows, in one instance, a dead Iraq man was laid with his skull smashed and drowning in his own brain, the caption read: "The worst thing about shooting them is that we have to clean them up later..."

Another one, a woman had been badly mutilated and was dead, lying in a street, one leg blown clean off. The picture was angled as such so that her vagina could be clearly seen. The caption read: "At least she isn't going to run"

Final instant; a man was supposedly run over by a tank (it is a possibility that this was Photoshopped in, but I'm not trusting no-one on this) and the caption clearly reads: "bad-day for this dude"

If anyone agrees with me, then please state so. I don't know and don't want to know the address of the site. I apologise fully if this offends anyone at all, but this really does make my blood boil.

Wow. Thats all I can say. How stupid do you have to be to do a thing like that? This really makes me mad. These people fighting for you and all you do is insult them once they have given the greatest sacrifice to their country that they can? I can't believe anyone with a soul would do this.

While it's not excusable--I will say the following:

Anything the soldiers can do over there that mimics humor is very good for morale, which is even better for avoiding casulties.

But this kind of humor is not funny and if you are a soldier you should feel the same way about this; that it is disgusting.

It's not the death itself that is funny, but the lines that they're coming up with to cheer themselves up.

I can see where you're coming from, LionHarted, but I would imagine anyone with an intact conscious would be pretty disgusted by this (I'm talking about the soldiers here, not anyone on ZU). IMO, doing such things for the purpose of keeping morale up is just plain disgusting.

OMFG, I have a strong stomach and all, I can face endless amounts of blood but thins is making me sick in the bottom of my bowel. And trading the pictures for currency and going back to the gulf war I mean I knew that the world was full of sick disgusting people but to think that these guys are protecting their country is plain disturbing. These guys should pay dearly for these crimes.

I've seen alot of crap and this is no different, it is just horible, the latest craze to hit Iraq, first editions and rarities from the Gulf War 1.

Alot of people feel sick when they see dead people but it is no different to seeing dead cows or birds or other things, I think people get sick because they don't want to be in that postition.

I mean no offence by my post, seriously I don't, I could of said worse, but what was said in the first Post is bad enough.

What about the other time when they had the Iraqi's stacked on top of each other, just no!

I doubt very much if there is any truth to the story that photgraphs of dead Iraqis are used as currency. Don't believe everything you read.

And this is nothing new in war (if you can call what's going on in Iraq that). GIs did worse in the Second World War, guys. You've got to have a certain degree of heartlessness to be a professional soldier in peace-time.

I'm not entirely sure I believe this story. Credible sources, please?

Even if it is true, I highly doubt everyone is doing it.

Humour is a form of coping with a bad situation, trying to make something good come out of something bad.

What's wrong with you people?!? Have you forgotten what the terrorists have done to US? The Trade Center tradegy?!? They ENJOYED hearing about that!!! And we lost COUNTLESS mothers and fathers in that attack!!! And if I was over there, I would take the largest knife I could find and carve them up if I catch one of those shiite bastards. I know that the countries are seperate but it's the same clan. And we're still losing men to this date. And trust me, if you think that's all their doing over there, then you really need to open your eyes. Don't forget, those are some of the same people that decapitated our own and VIDEO TAPED it...And you call us sick.......

What does Iraq have to do with Afghanistan's 9/11 World Trade Center bombing? See, the problem with people who supported BOTH wars is that they can't get their facts straight enough. They like to tie BOTH different events together (9/11 with invasion of Iraq in hopes of finding WMD).

BOTH sides are sick if you ask me. War is never a way to solve a problem (although I do support war on Afghanistan but not the war on Iraq). To invade Iraq for finding WMD is just another way to show: "We USA are still as powerful as ever. We are world police. If we think that you are hiding this and that, you are going to be bombed". In the end, military officials and countless of other reports have shown certain "certified and official secret information" have been mannipulated. First, Bush said Iraq has WMD. Now, he said he's liberating Iraqi people? WTF??? These two things are completely different. How he tied one thing with another is beyond me.

That's just flat-out wrong. There's...there's no words to decsribe that...

I find it rather funny. The fact of using dead people pictures for money is the funny part. The mutilation and death is the wrong part. So I'm split on this.
