Because while Jews were one of many hates that the KKK had against, Blacks faced their brutality the most considering that there were more Blacks that outweigh Jews--if any were ever present.(though today, more Jews probably outweigh the Blacks now, especially in Government/Business).

There were well over a million Jews in America by 1900. If anything the % of Jews in America has gone down.

I think it should be removed, for Black History trying to speak against racism it is pretty ironic. Yes, I know it's meant to remember how we treated slaves in the past, but people tend to forget that the African Americans weren't the only ones treated badly. I mean we ♥♥♥♥ing attempted mass genocide on the Native Americans when we first came to America, and then stole a ♥♥♥♥load of their land, and Hispanics have also never been treated well, hell pretty much ever not white race that doesn't have an american or British accent have been treated terribly, other than maybe a bit more hardship (no more than the Native Americans though as we also used them as slaves too) the African Americans are no different than any other minority group in the way they've been treated. What we need is an American History Month, not a month dedicated to one specific race when American is full of every different kind. I'm sure if we had a Middle Eastern history month people would go to ♥♥♥♥ over that, why though? It's putting one race above all others by having Black History Month. I love Morgan Freemans commentary on this.

So you take the account of single individuals as being the main purpose of the KKK "revival"? That's pretty rash.

Puts down the film The Birth of a Nation as the first cause, and the lynching of Leo Frank as the second of the three. So while it seems odd that a single incident led to it, that seems to be the case here I think.

Black History Month is a silly idea that's not hurting anyone. I can't imagine why anyone who wasn't heavily invested in it for personal or emotional reasons would care about it.

I don't mind it. It's not hurting me in any way, so why should I get upset if they want a Black History month?

Some may argue that it's our way of trying to make up for all the horrible ♥♥♥♥ we've put them through, others may argue that this is senseless because it elevates them, but in my opinion? I don't have a problem with it. If they want to do it, let them.

However, I do have to agree with Morgan Freeman on this.

@ Chad- Um, dude? I know that post was way back in 2-26-2012, but..."We didn't enslave people"? C'mon, you and I both know that Alabama was ass-deep in slavery before the Civil War (and it took god know how long for Alabama to get a grip on civil rights.) Hell, wasn't this state once referred to as "King of Cotton"?

I said we didn't enslave other groups, which I believed was true. I thought we only enslaved Africans. Maybe Native Americans when we weren't just putting them on land we didn't want at the time, until we changed our minds and moved them somewhere else. I did pay enough attention in history class to know we enslaved Africans.

The fact that much of White America still sees most black people as "those goddamn welfare-leeching ♥♥♥♥♥♥s," makes a Black History Month that teaches otherwise quite necessary, unfortunately.

Well, there ARE still plenty of racist people. That never goes away.

There are plenty of white bigots. There are plenty of black bigots. There are plenty of Asian bigots.

What's the point? So long as they aren't hurting anyone, let them be bigots. A month set aside to remember black history will not erase bigotry, and racial bigotry is not inherently more evil than any other kind.

Is there a hispanic history month? how about asian history month? Unless there is a month for every race, this is indeed racism, albeit favorable. Racist non the less

How many races are there, actually? Less than 12? How many races have much to do with American history?

Races...cultures...how many are there?

So was ~400 years of chattel slavery, ~100 years of overt political oppression, and ~150 years of wage slavery.

Ethnic/cultural tensions were much worse then just against black people.

In all actuality, one. Ethnicity is a social construct, not a biological one.

Well yeah, there aren't as many differences between Humans as, say, dogs. Though there are also differences between people of certain heritages. Did I spell that right? Obviously we're all one species, hence the ability to breed with one another. Just saying Human, though, is a bit vague.

No one demanded a black history month. No one demanded compensation. It was created by a man who wanted it to be dissembled after black history melded into American History. That's it. You didn't have hordes of black people "demanding" to be compensated.

There are black people (As well as Indian people) that think the government/the white Americans owe them things though, just not as many as people tend to think.

Personally, I say no one of my generation owes a person anything for their race. True equality comes from not paying back your ancestor's mistakes, but from moving past them.
