Re: A Religion Theory (help)
Trico: Perhaps those that wish to be reincarnated or whatever those religions belief have that happen. I have often wondered how everyone can be happy in heaven when we have such different views. Although are people really that different? Someone once told me that we all desire on some level to be accepted by others which actually makes sense to me.

Re: A Religion Theory (help)
In my personal opinion, all of these religions can get to paradise. How? Here is how:
All theistic religions of the world attempt to claim that they are the only and one true way to paradise, but that is illogical. I believe that it is the same Supreme One in all of these religions, but our views of it keep us divided and how we practice faith. For example, conceptions of God include: Holy Trinity Allah Yahweh Triple Goddess Trigoddess Triple God Brahman Buddha Confucius Tao/Dao and many others..... The other reason why they all can get to paradise is because they all focus on similar good deeds. Examples include helping others, being kind, no sinning, etc.

Also, the two Indian religions I know of - Hinduism and Sikhism - both aren't just moral concepts. Hinduism has many gods, while Sikhism has just one. Also, Japan's main religion (Shinto/ism) has deities too. But still, you have a point. The concept of a singular god most westerners know of only really lines up well with the Abrahamic religions.

Re: A Religion Theory (help)
No,they can not all be correct. As for Christianity being so similar to them all, how is this so?
The Bible indicates a personal relationship with Christ as the only way to eternal life, not built on earning His favor through works (however, good works can be an assurance of salvation). Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. John 14:6 (for arguments of pluralism) Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." |

Re: A Religion Theory (help)
^Exactly.
This a dagger against pluralism. You can't be a Christian pantheist unless you cherry pick. And you also pretty much shot down the "good works" path to heaven.

Re: A Religion Theory (help)
I left Alcoholic's Anonymous because of the whole dogmatic approach and extremely strong ties to Christianity. If you're not a Christian they expect you to form a belief system set up in the same way. Also that I only had to go because of court.
The religions can mingle a if you take their vague philosophy nd nothing else. Scientology and Hara Khrsna have almost nothing in common, combining the two would be difficult. I can't say for certain that none of those religion's are correct, but there's no reason to believe so. I will say, though, that it's unlikely that they hold any significant truth to them.

Re: A Religion Theory (help)
None of them can. I don't believe there is a heaven or a hell. I believe that when a person dies, he/she is dead! I think the most "sinful" person has got just as much of a chance to go to heaven as the most faithful one, because there is no heaven. That's my belief. I think religion is a waste of time and a destructive ideology, which is not allowing logical thinking and individuality.
But I do respect people who believe....... |
