Marijuana - Good or bad?

(If mods want to remove this they can i just want to see different peoples stances on this topic.)

Hey, A lot of people tell others Cannabis is bad and can kill you.
I have done some research and i believe that Cannabis is no more harmful than drinking or smoking tobacco.

So what do you guys believe is right?

Well apparently it can kill some people from inhaling it, probably due to the abnormality to their system, like first time or something.

All I know is, it should be legal, certainly not the worst drug out there.

Yeah note the word apparent.

I think it's generally negative, however, not negative enough to make illegal.

Me personally being a child, it is bad. I don't know how many concerts I've been to and I had to inhale that ****, damn, and be around the people who do it, while it is illegal in the state. :/

Inhaling any type of smoke into your lungs is bad. Is it worse for you than cigarettes? no, but its still by no means good for you. also, it smells like skunk/crap/burning hair. How people can stand that **** I do not know. And I don't hate people who smoke it, I just generally have less respect for them.

It also increases blood flow and promotes new brain cell growth.

I don;t see why we can't legalize it, but if they do there should be an age limit (my suggestion is 21), and you should only be able to buy x amount per month, to prevent overuse.

Honestly though, I don;t care. I don't use pot, and I don't plan on it, so it doesn't matter to me.

Despite some drawbacks Marijuana has, if cigarettes and alcohol can not only be legal, but socially acceptable, why can't marijuana be?

For starters, what a lot of people don't realize is that not only is Alcohol a drug, but it's more potent that most "illegal" drugs like LSD. Cigarettes have a substantial amount of toxic products in it, such as ingredients used for rat poisoning, and toilet cleaners.

Finally, people dies directly by alcohol and cigarette related deaths, including drunk driving and second hand smoke, whereas no one ever has, or probably ever will die directly by marijuana. In fact, the only reason why it was outlawed in America in the first place is because of a murder back in the 1950's, and the murderer apparently was in possession of marijuana.

All that being said, marijuana has drawbacks such as loss or short-term memory(which gets worse and worse depending on how much weed you smoke), and of course there is always the argument that one can become a burnout(which is true in some cases), but as long as there are problems with alcohol and legitimately potent drugs, marijuana should be the least of our worries.

well one hand, can be quite beneficial if consumed orally. smoking anything at all is bad for you plain and simple. But on the other hand, you should never underestimate how stupid people can be with their drugs. I'd say that pot isn't the problem here, our own irresponsibility is.

In all actuality, marijuana was banned due to propaganda; people claimed that it caused insanity. I've also heard that it was banned due to racism. I can't remember where, though...

But yeah, I find that cannabis is far less dangerous than most other legal substances, especially cigarettes. More often than not, smoke cannabis is pure, whereas cigarettes are loaded with all kinds of dangerous chemicals, such as arsenic and even uranium. It is unsurprising that marijuana is far less harmful than cigarettes. It's also been proven that THC (the chemical that gives you the high) can help prevent a variety of diseases, including cancer.

There's also the fact that marijuana rarely inhibits your senses in the same fashion as, oh, alcohol. From what I've experienced with the drug, you feel more inclined to just sit at home and chill out. It's really quite relaxing.

EDIT: Oh, I just dug up an interesting bit of information regarding THC's toxicity. Apparently, the lethal dose for THC is 1500 pounds in 15 minutes; the average dose of THC is over 1000 times less than the lethal dosage, giving it a safety ratio of 1000:1. By comparison, alcohol's safety ratio is 10:1, cocaine's is 15:1, and heroin's is 6:1.

That's right, alcohol is 100 times deadlier than THC.

Can't be worse than cigarettes.

Alcohol is far worse for you than pure Marijuana. Not that I do it, but I find it absurd that people actually believe it is seriously bad for you. It beats your kids doing Cocaine and Heroin, things that can actually kill you.

Edit: Also, if I had a choice between Marijuana and Cigarettes, I'd immediately choose Marijuana. There are so many terrible things in Cigarettes, like rat poisoning, tar, and a substance that is ACTUALLY PHYSICALLY ADDICTING. That, my friends, is called Nicotine.

Edit 2: Also, there really isn't anything bad in Marijuana besides minor brain damage due to the smoke, and that damage is not even the equivalent of hitting your head on the wall. Plus, Marijuana relieves stress, and has medical uses. Cigs don't do **** other than destroy your health.

The main issue seems to be that marijuana is often considered a gateway drug for teens/adults.

Cannabis is good for you.

Any smoke in general is not, from ANYTHING.

Cannabis has theoretical cancer preventative properties.

MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER.

All of that in all honesty is completely true. I've done cannabis multiple times and after doing, plus expanding my knowledge on it I can't fathom why it's illegal. And you would too. The fact is that it may be a joke that weed makes everything better... but it's a true joke. I've had candy taste twice as good. And ever since I started my depression has slowly gone away.

there is nothing to suggest that cannabis is harmful in fact studies show that drinking and smoking are more deadly.
