I am not even a christian. I was raised christian, but I am now agnostic. I was just using the christian logic (or less an oxymoron: the christian viewpoint) to make a point.

all the Christians I know would say there's no such thing as an unforgivable sin.

Re: The Blasphemy Challenge
Being raised Christian (I'm not one though) I've heard different things. Mostly contradictions. "God will forgive you of any sin!", "Unforgivable!", "Any sin, EXCEPT...", "Our God is a God of second chances", etc.

Re: The Blasphemy Challenge
yeah, I was raised Christian too. The particular sect I was raised in believes that there are no unforgivable sins. God will forgive anyone for anything.
they also believe in a lot of silly things, particularly young earth creationism. |

Re: The Blasphemy Challenge
If you don't believe in the Christian God, fine. But posting this ritualized "challenge" is unnecessary and is simply an attempt to deliberately antagonize Christians, which I don't approve of.

And btw, Shakyamuni (non-buddhists just call him Buddah) said he wasn't a god or anything like that. And ye, it doesn't really matter what people believe, everybody has their own way of becoming enlightened, be it believe Shakyamuni to be a god or not.

I probably should put in another post because of the negative backlash I got. I am not a Christian, but I simply think that others should be respectful of the other religions in the world. I mean, I'm not posting videos online blaspheming Krishna or any other God-like figures. I might not be associated with Buddhism, or agree with Christianity, but I'm not out to antagonize its followers.

And if you damn me to hell for not believing in God (I know you are), how does that make you any better? Point of the matter is. |

But I may have misunderstood something *shrugs* Though I was under the impression that through Jesus's death, all of our sins are forgiven if you accept him. Just my thoughts. |

Your thoughts are not misunderstood.

Re: The Blasphemy Challenge
sure, but the video is suggesting that if you deny the existence of the Holy Spirit then you can never be redeemed, even if for some reason you later changed your mind.
of course, it cites the Bible on this matter, so it's just another way in which Christian doctrine is inconsistent and doesn't always line up with its own text. |

Re: The Blasphemy Challenge
You failed too in answering the question. He has the same reason in not believing in your god as you have not believing in Shiva, Thor, or Zeus.

Re: The Blasphemy Challenge
I heard something pretty cool one of these days, it was something +/- like this:
Christians deny 1000 gods Atheists deny 1001 gods and that's pretty much the truth, you are basically almost the same. lol

And most Christians don't respect people of other religions, agnostics (like you and I), or atheists. Sure, they're not blatantly denying anything, but they push. They've pushed me, several times, even when I still identified as Christian. I think that's much worse than posting videos of denying "God," especially when Christians have a choice of looking at the video or not. This. |

Re: The Blasphemy Challenge
This reminds me a bit of Pascal's Wager. I'm pretty sure it's about how you've got nothing to lose, and everything to gain by being religious.
(As in, if you're wrong, and there is no god, you die, and that's that, but if you're right, you get to heaven) If there is a god, do you think he/she/it would.. "accept" people who were theists purely for personal gain? D: "I am against religion because it teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world." - Richard Dawkins I agree with that. I don't believe in any god, supreme being/diety or mysical force, for many reasons. This video/challenge is just a form of how people think about it. I don't think I'd do that, it's just not my sort of thing. If there is a god, I certainly hope he wouldn't be so vain to truly judge someone on what they were thinking based on the information given. Quote:
I'll deny this "holy spirit" because I don't think it's real, just as I imagine YOU aren't praying to Zeus every morning. :3 To the original point of this topic, I don't HAVE to disprove the existence of any god. If you're trying to convince me I'm really a dragon, it should be your job to convince me. The distinction of Atheist and Agnostic is silly, imo. If you want to be really particular, no atheist really can say they're 100% sure god exists, but then again, they can't really say that THEY actually exist either. The real question is, do you THINK there is a god, not IS there a god. :3 {I realize that some of my points have been posted before on this topic, but I hadn't read them at the time of writing this}
