Where does the universe come from?

Lately , I have been thinking about my death and where I will end up , whether or not there is an afterlife , and it started to get me thinking about the universe's origin.

This could be religious , or it could be scientific .
I just need to know .

Re: Where does the universe come from?

The universe as we know it originated from the Big Bang.

Re: Where does the universe come from?

A popular theory for the cause of the Big Bang at the moment is a White Whole, A polar opposite of a Black hole where matter is ejected from the event horizen.

I take more interest in the hypothesis (which is even accepted as a theory if I remember correctly) of there being infinite amount of universes.

Too bad, bro. No one can know. Just arbitrarily pick a belief system and run with it. If you're feeling particularly thoughtful, feel free to think it through before making your decision, but in the end anything you choose to belief is just a construct to keep you content throughout your short meaningless existence, whether that be an acceptance of your insignificance or a vain hope of your continued existence after death.

The universe always existed. To say it didn't at one point is contradictary.

Re: Where does the universe come from?

contradictory to what?

to say the Universe always existed is contradictory. It suggests that time has also always existed and extends forever into the past. Obviously, if this were true then we wouldn't exist because an infinite amount of time would have to pass before this point in time.

You probably wont ever die, assuming technology progresses as it should, and you aren't really bad at staying alive.

Probably not.

Well, time does technically extend forever into the past.

No, you're thinking of the Many Worlds interpretation. It's neither a theory nor a hypothesis, but an interpretation of the physical effects of quantum theory. I, personally, tend to side with the MWI, as it seems like the simplest interpretation, and allows for determinism.

Eh, yeah, I guess that would be the more conventional way to read it.

But yeah, that was my point.

Re: Where does the universe come from?

I honestly don't have an opinion on the beginnings of the universe. There is equal amounts of proof and disproof for pretty much every offered explanation, so until there is irrefutable evidence for one of them, I'm not going to bother thinking about it.

Furthermore, I really don't see how it matters. Knowing whether the universe was created by a deity, or simply thrown out of a white hole wouldn't affect my life in the least.

Re: Where does the universe come from?

The Big Bang Theroy is just that a theory. My belief is that God created the universe. I am not the one to say as to how this was done, but God is all Powerful, all Knowing, and Omipresent. He created the universe in his infinite wisdom. Many people believe that coming up with a "scientific" explanation, explains away God. Whose to say God didn't use the method they found for how something was done, or for how the uiverse operates. I like to believe that God created the universe. I would love to know the "Scientific" explanations as well, but I will always believe that things work the way they do because God made them that way.

You don't give scientific theories their due credit. Just wondering, why would God create such a flawed universe?

Re: Where does the universe come from?

Man fell due to the influences of Satan. The universe is flawed because we either do not understand it, or Satan's influence had corrupted it. I do give science it's credit, but I believe that credit also belongs to God.
