Re: Where does the universe come from?

Thank you Flames and Lysis for Twisting my words to suit your position on the argument. I'm done speaking on the topic, because I DESPISE people who twist words. You would both make very good politicians, you have a knack for twisting the truth. You haven't won I still believe God is good, that He knows everything, and that He will ALWAYS, be the embodiment of everything that is good in the world. You can both burn in Hell for eternity because the Bible , God's written word, says that's what happens to people like you.

You know, I figured it'd be easy to show you what you said instead of claiming what you said, only to have to quote it in the post after you denied it. So that was for conveniences sake. I didn't twist your words, I just showed where you contradicted yourself, I didn't manipulate the sentences or posts in any way. Please clarify for me if you think I did a bad job. But all of those quotes are from your posts.

I'm not trying to WIN. I'm trying to show you why what you are saying is illogical and contradictory. Is that so hard to accept or to appreciate?

Hey Lysis, see you in hell?

I think you misunderstand the definitions of "good" and "loving." They don't involve any destruction or murder.

I will NEVER blame God for anything that is wrong in my life, everything has a purpose, Katrina brought the country together in a outpouring of help for those that were affected.
too bad about all those people who died then.

and all the people who lost everything they owned.

and all the people who lost their families.

yeah too bad about them. Apparently God doesn't love them as much as he loves everyone else. Even an omnipotent God can't avoid a little collateral damage.

I'm sorry, but this is absolutely appalling.

it's nice to see that the followers of a Good and Loving god are just as Good and Loving as the god they follow.

which is apparently not at all. What did I do to deserve such hate? You wound me deeply.

It's like when you have a bag with a pocket of air in it so you push down on the pocket and it just moves to another part of the bag, and you do that over and over, in a circle, when you finally realize that the bag doesn't even have enough critical reasoning skills to realize that it's moving in a circle.

Re: Where does the universe come from?

have you ever been playing a video game with someone who wasn't as good at the game as you? You play for a half hour or so and just when it's getting fun the other player gets angry at you, throws the controller on the ground, curses a couple of times, and then storms out of the room. This thread is basically that only the video game is called "Serious Business."

it's really no fun. I don't know why I waste my time and effort on these people who don't understand the first thing about debating.

So does anyone find any legitimacy in the idea that advanced Aliens created or put the first life on our planet? I have heard this idea tossed around before, I don't really know what to think of it. But, wouldn't it be 'intelligent design' too?

So you're saying God is love, but He burns people alive for questioning the origin of the universe?

I'm agnostic. I think the world may have been created by God, but I also realize that, since no living person has ever seen Him, His existence can't be proven one way or another.

An all loving, omnipotent being could create a paradise for an infinite amount of life forms to live happily forever. It is far beyond our own comprehension.

Even if that's grammatically sensible (which I'd dispute: how do you fine "an infinite amount of time ago" without either limiting infinity or hopelessly needing to define "a moment prior to an infinite amount of time ago"), its a tautology: farthest thing in the world from a contradiction.

Exactly, it's just a theory. However, the definition of theory is "a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world".

You said God is omnipotent. Therefore, time should not matter. Therefore, God knew Satan would not use his second chance. Or are you saying God wouldn't be able to know? Cool.

I can say with over 9000% honesty that a God would rather put you in hell for condemning other people, than someone keeping a friendly tone while debating.
Oh well, one fundie down. Honestly, debating with people like this girl right here is like pushing stranded whales back in the ocean. I can't believe people like this are over 18.

Satan tried to put himself above God and has been punished for it. Satan was trapped in hell, the fallen angels that followed Sata were not. Satan uses them to pollute the earth, and influece man to do wrong. God is inherently good, to say he is root of evil is just wrong. Yes he created Satan, he was giving him the chance to do the right thing even though he knew there was a chance for him to do the wrong thing. He gave one of his worst enemies a second chance, something we as humans seem incapable of doing.
This shows your general lack of knowledge about judeo-christian lore. There is a reason Satan is called the accuser. It is his job to tempt man and test his faith in God and then argue why that man should be damned when he gives in to that temptation. We see this occur in the book of Job, where Satan even appears in the court of God. Now tell me, why would God allow his worst enemy to appear in his court? Perhaps this is because is not actually evil, but a neutral figure who is only doing as God commands. The problem with modern Christianity is that we have to have something to blame for our own shortcomings and it just so happens that Satan fits the bill. It's a bit funny how we atheists and agnostics know more about your own religion than you do.

oh, and I hate to break it to you, but Mardi Gras is a Christian festivity sanctioned by the Catholic Church and meant to celebrate the beginning of Lent. it's known as carnival over in Europe and has been taking place for centuries.

Re: Where does the universe come from?

I think that the big bang theory *might* be possible. I am Christian, but not against the idea of evolution. As my old pastor used to say "If there was a Big Bang, then who lit the fuse?" God could have decided to let the world evolve, or to make it gradually. However, it does speak in the Bible of how the world was made in seven days. I like to think, in the far convoluted reaches of my logic, that maybe it did happen gradually.
