Your political stance

I'm new here, so rather than figure this out over a period of time, I think it would just be easier to find out the stances of the members here through a poll.

Re: Your political stance

Moderate in the sense that I support policies that are liberal, but usually a more conservative flavor of such policies.

For example, I am in favor of an expansion of state-sponsored healthcare [to ensure universal coverage], but not in favor of nationalized healthcare.

Re: Your political stance

I considered myself a moderate, in that I like to have aspects of both sides, checks and balances if you will. I took your test Ogmios, and I guess I was right

My chart.

I personally don't see myself any left of center, (and I am sure most of you who know how I operate around here would agree.) but, that's what I got

I think that their should have been more options on your test though, as well as being able to combine multiple political ideologies since I personally do not conform to one standard.

Re: Your political stance

I definitely lean towards the Liberal sides of things.

However, I do not feel strong about things beyond LGBT rights, the death penalty, abortion, the war, and stuff like that.

Of which I'm actually quite conservative when it comes to abortion. But other than that there isn't anything conservative about me.

I like to say I'm "socially liberal", and maybe not so much beyond that. I don't really know my opinions over health care and the economy, because I honestly don't know much about them. However, I do know that I'm sick of the conservatives that think that everybody that's rich worked their way to get up there and that everybody who is poor are lazy bums. In fact I hate that mindset because I know that it's false.

Oh and I'm also strongly for the separation of church and state. I guess that's a liberal standpoint... from what I've seen anyway...

There's Eggys and there used to be Sugarpoultry.

As for me, I despise government intervention in business (like antitrust, regulations, etc.) but believe that capitalism has unrelated major flaws (the credit system, materialism, etc.). I believe in a mostly liberal government despite thinking that it can promote a weak moral fiber in things unrelated to the government and that some things would have to be conservative ("affirmative action", gun rights, no abortion for cases where the woman's life is not in danger, etc.). I believe in a secular but not atheistic government. I believe that most people are irrational and should have no say in government but this should not be apparent.

To put it at face value, I'd argue for a moderate libertarian viewpoint in SD.

You sound more like a "social moderate that leans toward the right" (Because, out of the "social" issues that you mentioned, you mentioned that you were conservative for one, while not holding an opinion over the others).

Maybe you mean "fiscally liberal."

Yeah, because that's how all conservatives think. I'm glad you KNOW that, I mean, how could you be wrong? You've obviously sat down and discussed those issues with all of them.

You should have put more options on that poll; there are different kinds of liberals and conservatives, you know.

I'm not too interested in politics, but I'm definitely not conservative. I believe in the individual's rights, not the rights of the crowd.

I'd say that I believe in that too; but if we both do, apparently, one of us is on the wrong side of the graph.

I'd say you would be on the wrong side of the graph, as Gandhi is listed as left, and he believed in the supreme value of the individual.

I would assume the divide in both of your graphs stems from economic opinions.

The wording suggested to me that she is only sick of the conservatives that have that mindset, not the ones that don't.

The supreme value of the individual, however, wouldn't lie on bottom left; it would lie on the bottom right, where both social freedom and market freedom are present. Closer to "true" anarchy.

Indeed, Gandhi is on the left side, but I think that would imply that he wouldn't believe in true individualism; rather, the interests of the community over the individual.

Guess so. I have little knowledge of economics, so I don't care so much about that.
