Obama- Good or Bad for the Nation?

Now I am going to be honest, I don't tend to keep up with the news and whats really going on in the country. However this issue has been bugging me. I frequent a forum where there are alot of pretty die hard conservatives. This one person, if the bible wasn't her bible, Fox News would probably be it. Now every chance she gets she posts how Obama is going to run the nation into the ground. Recently she posted something a pastor's wife had written. It was similar to a biblical passage and it was a commentary on whats apparently happening. Short story short, in the end our nation is crap. Oh and apparently we turned into a Socialist state.


Now I think I will get a better and more unbiased response from ZU.

So can anyone enlighten me on this subject?

Too soon to know. If the money he has spent doesn't work we are in deep ****. If it does work then we are fine. So far I don't like the guy that much (I don't like any politician) but I'm willing to wait and give him a chance. At least he's doing something rather than sitting on his ass.

Well he is better than George Bush. That is a start!

He is introducing the Healthcare and it appears he is working towards improving the economy. I'm not entirely sure his plans will work however as long as America focuses on the development of their own country then their should be fine.

Personally I believe Ron Paul could have done a better job.

I like him. Good speaker, isn't afraid to tell us we're being idiots, and isn't all "War on Terror."

regardless of what the far right will tell you, the economy is starting to turn around, i've seen my states stimulus money put to good use fixing our horrendous roads. So I'd say he's doing a fair job at the moment. People compain about how much money this is costing, yet they can't seem to come up with a realistic way of doing things without as much spending.

Don't get me wrong, I think most of the money spent over there is a waste. I just don't think it's really comparable to the stimulus, is all. Granted, they're both big ol piles of money.

Well, I'm reserving judgment on that until his term is up. He still has 3 years in which he could make a stupid mistake.

Anyway, it really is too soon to know whether he is helping or not. He hasn't done anything revolutionary yet.

Well just a general question, what changes would Americans would like to see from Obama? Other than cleaning up the economic crisis.

I'd like to see a change in health care. As it currently stands, my step-father's life is in jeopardy because he's been refused coverage.

Getting troops out of Iraq would be pretty kick ass. Also, we really should patch up our relationship with a few countries (North Korea, Iran, etc). We wouldn't need to become buddy buddy with them like we are with the UK, but having them not shouting threats us would be nice.

^ Yeah...I think it is because Iran and Israel = enemies. America stuck in the middle.

I feel that stimulus bill was pushed too fast. It should have been able to be picked apart by the people who voted on it. It was too many pages for anyone to read all of it. That's just wrong. I like the government spending money but I don't trust them to do a good job with it.
I'd like to see us looking at other nations more for the universal health care issues. I spent my 19th birthday in the hospital getting hip surgery. nothing too major (but not too minor) and the whole thing ended up costing 140k. Now if this hadn't have been done I could have lost my left hip. So I feel that health care is something everyone has a right to. But I don't want us to end up like Canada. I'd rather have an insurance plan for American's where the government pays so much of the bill, but then the people have to pay back the government with a low interest rate over a said amount of years. I'm for a hand up, not a hand out. Is my way perfect? No. Is Canada's way perfect? No. Nobody has the perfect system. Thus I feel America should look at what works and what doesn't and spend time to come up with something that will work for us. What I want Obama to do is take more time in his actions. Because the entire nation will feel the ramifications of them for many years to come.

North Korea hates everyone.

You shouldn't have to pay a dime for healthcare. How goddamned long is it going to be before americans finally understand that?
