Re: [Puck] Padme's Training
OoC: Okay, this took A LOT of time to finally get to and write, but it is done! Thank you for your patience!
BiC:
Student? Student to him? Student to the guy that had led her into crowds of strange humans with turtle heads? Student to the warrior who had beaten her senseless? Student to the man who just walked off after no words of honor after their duel?
This was not the learning experience Padme had had in mind.
Sure, there were supposed to be trials, great tests of strength only the mightiest could endure. There would be bloody battles and bone chilling scenes, things that would scare any decent haschen silly! This was why Padme had left, why she had heeded the advice of the elders to go on a journey. She was supposed to gain honor, experience, bravery, all of the things an honorable warrior needed! But no, not this time. Padme was going to be taught by some strange human in a bright red shirt. It was a good thing the elders didn’t know about this.
With a resigned sigh, Padme hopped down the long corridor of doors, her disinterested gaze passing over them like one counting sheep. Her long, graceful legs carried her weight firmly, her padded feet silent against the stone. As she leaped with the staff in her mouth, its bangles jangled noisily against the ground, both metal and wooden clanking echoing through the empty hall. This eventually became a dull thumping to Padme, the rhythm of her movements almost hypnotizing herself.
As Padme continued to watch the walls lined with doors, she found that they, too, seemed to have a sort of pattern. They were all tall enough for humans, towering over the large rabbit like great wooden walls, each one a perfect rectangle. How had Neeko expected her to open any of them?
And then she saw it. Just two more doors down, there was a sudden gap in the wall, a stone interruption between the large doors. A passerby of human size would not notice such an insignificant thing, but at Padme’s height, it was fairly obvious. At the bottom of this stone wall there was a small door, the top of its curved frame reaching only an inch above the tip of Padme’s ears. With great curiosity, Padme stopped at the small planked door, which had no handle. Engraved right at eye level in fine haschen print was “Padme”.
“Hmm. Very strange.” The yellow furred creature sniffed cautiously at the door, its wood smelling very much like the oak trees from her forest. The scent was very familiar, causing a strange ache in her chest. Who knew how far her forest was from her now?
With a good deal of caution, Padme pushed against the door with her small paws, and it swung inwardly with very little resistance. Upon opening it, a bright light streamed through the doorway, filled with all of the wonderful smells of her home. There was the cheerful perfume of daisies, the succulent scent of strawberries, and the sharp smell of pine, all within one breath of the world behind the door.
The small creature padded into this strange world with awed silence, taken completely aback by the sight before her. Instead of another human room surrounded by stone walls, Padme was standing in a secluded grove of trees. All around her, as far as she could see, as far as she could hear, there was only a world of plants.
Padme glanced cautiously behind her, half expecting that the hallway was completely gone by now, but there it was, an empty stone room on the other side of the door. With sudden curiosity, Padme quickly slammed the door shut, then opened it again just to make sure. On the forest side, this door appeared to have been engraved into the tree, but once she opened it, the same dull hallway appeared before her. This strange magic confused the small creature, but after a few more hops through the threshold of the door, she finally decided to leave it alone.
Padme found herself quite relaxed in this new world, where the short green grass was soft and fragrant, and the dark treetops above were inviting. The wide leaves of the trees waved cheerfully in the breeze, though there were not birds to compliment them. As far as Padme could see, she was the only creature in the placid place.
After a moment more of taking everything in, Padme found a small pool of clear water laying at the base of one particularly large oak tree. A burning thirst made its way into her throat as she gazed at it, resisting only long enough to run to the pristine water to soak her mouth. After a few large gulps, the yellow creature threw herself in, the water coming up to her neck. Despite its chill, Padme washed herself with vigor, scrubbing off the blood and dirt that soiled her fur.
“Well, it’s about time!”
Padme immediately froze, looking into the grass to find the source of the squeaky voice. She thought it to be rather familiar, which was more of a surprise than a scare. “Who be there?”
“Why, don’t you remember? I’m appalled!” A flash of pink appeared in the grass before her, and Padme smiled as a tiny pink bird poked its beak through the foliage.
“Oh, it be you again! Padme went to door, just as bird say.” Padme nonchalantly replied as she scrubbed at her, entirely at ease, unlike the stiff creature before her. She felt at home in this grove, and as she really had obeyed the bird, she found no reason for anyone to be upset. Except that Padme was trying to destroy the strange dome place.
“Yes, it’s me!” The strange bird growled with an icy black glare.
“So…you need help? Padme be great warrior, she help no matter what!” Padme cried as she lifted her staff heroically. It might have had more effect if the sudden movement hadn’t sent a wave of cold water splashing into the bird.
“Why, I— I NEVER! How dare you, you nasty beast!” The bird screeched as it shook its feathers, shaking and grumbling like a spoiled child.
“Oh. No help then?” The small creature’s ears went down disappointedly, her posture softening just a bit. For some reason she couldn’t explain, the bird’s annoyance disturbed her to a great extent. She didn’t like being useless and clumsy, for those were the things a warrior was not supposed to be.
With a sigh, the bird straightened its long neck again, propping itself delicately on one black leg. “If you want to be of any use whatsoever, you ought to listen every once in a while!”
“Oh. Kay’.”
The simple response won only a dumbfounded look from the bird. Its beak opened and closed soundlessly, pure rage making every feather on its body bristle. “FINE! BE THE IMBECILE THAT YOU ARE! I SHOULDN’T EVEN BE THE ONE TO TELL YOU THAT YOU NEED TO GO TO THE CAFETERIA!” With that horrible screech over with (no pun intended), the bird marched off, its terrible prance creating only the tiniest rustle in the grass as it disappeared into it.
So, Padme go to “cafeateeria” now? Strange, strange. The small creature had no idea what the bird had meant, but she figured the only way to find out would be to find the strange human again. Hadn’t he said that he would be waiting?
Padme waited to see what had become of the bird, but after a small shrug, she turned and hopped back to the strange door, hoping to find Neeko somewhere within the strange human building.
