Lachyn's (New) Training
OoC: Lachyn's profile is here.
![]() BiC: It was late in the afternoon, the sun setting over the mountains, and a sleepy sort of silence had descended. A faint breeze whispered through the pines, but nothing else stirred. The dark silhouettes of the distant peaks were lined in gold and in the east the sky was dusky blue. Lachyn sat at the window, looking at at the trees, deep in his thoughts. The evening was coming quickly, and he was lost in memories. “Lachyn, look at me. Listen to me! What's wrong with you?” “You're crazy, that's what! Why don't you listen to me? What is your problem with this medallion?” “It's not normal, Lachyn, I hate it. It's—cold, far away, and it's taken you with it. You're not you, Lachyn, you've become something else! Please, why can't you see reason? You can't pretend you don't know you've changed!” He drew his sword, furious. “Come on, Kellith! You think it's evil or something, but it's not. It's powerful, yes, and I can see how maybe it frightens you, but if you have something against it, you have something against me, and that makes you my enemy!” “Your enemy? That's a laugh!” “Will you be laughing after you see firsthand what happens to my enemies?” She hesitated. “Your own sister, Lachyn? You wouldn't...” “The only blood that matters is the blood that's shed,” he spat. “Is that so?” He stepped forwards and raised his sword. Her eyes widened. “Lachyn, no--” He swung, and she barely raised her own sword in time to save her life. The point of his blade slashed down her arm, leaving a deep gash. She pulled away, her eyes wide and afraid. The air was thick with her terror, the taste of fear heavy and satisfying in his mouth. “I'm sorry I have to do this, Kellith. Please, I don't want to hurt you.” “You're crazy,” she whispered, and then curled up, turned away. He watched her with cold eyes. A polite knock on the door jerked him out of his reverie, making him jump. “Come in,” he called. The door opened and a Domerii came in, his head lowered with respect. He bowed deeply and then straightened. “Master Lachyn?” “Yes?” “I'm afraid that I must inform you that there has been a change in scheduling,” the little man said. “Scheduling?” he echoed, frowning. “You seem to have come to the Dome at an unfortunate time,” the Domerii explained. “Your—ah--former teacher, Orysius Solian, with all due respect to him, has left his post with the instructions that his pupils should be divided among his colleagues.” “I see...” “You are now to report to Zorlo's homeroom, to be trained by that master himself or by one of his fellow teachers, or helpers. That shall be his delegation.” “Zorlo,” he echoed. “Thank you. Erm—where--?” “It's room 413,” the Domerii said. “You are to report there at once and with all haste. Will that be all, Master Lachyn?” “Yes, thank you,” he said. The Domerii backed into the hall, closing the door behind him, and Lachyn got to his feet. He grabbed his sword belt, put it through the sheath, and tucked the slender baton that was the Thunder Staff behind it before heading out the door.

Re: Lachyn's (New) Training
OoC: That was a very enjoyable post. Sorry I didn't get to reading this sooner, but I've been in a tough time in my life. Anyway, this post was most impressive. I didn't see anything too notable, so let's get to work. ^_^
Unfortunately for Lachyn, since Zorlo didn't trust nor use the Domerri, they don't know that he's dead. When Lachyn comes across the Aura Master's door, he'll find it has been sealed up by some extremely powerful force. Have him get frustrated and try to break the door down, but be incapable of doing so. End your post with a voice calling out to Lachyn and him noticing it. 500 word minimum. ^_^

Re: Lachyn's (New) Training
OoC: I'm sorry to hear that. D: Hope it gets better soon. ^.^
Also sorry this post took so long--I've had this HUGE writer's block since, like, forever. >_< I can't seem to write anythign but fanfiction, when I'd REALLY rather be working on an original story. x3 Well, anyways, at least Lachyn's original. Here it is. ![]() EDIT: Gahh, formatting. >.< BiC: Lachyn sighed as a clock somewhere chimed nine o'clock. He hadn't expected he would get to the dining hall in time to have breakfast, but it was still disappointing to have his last glimmer of hope crushed. His disappointment was lifted at once when he turned the corner, glanced at the door, and saw the number. 413. He'd made it! Apparently today, the Dome's erratic movements had decided to be in his favor. He laughed out loud, elated. At least he wouldn't be late to meeting his teacher. He reached out to open the door. It wouldn't budge. His excitement died inside him and was replaced by a feeling of bewilderment. Why couldn't he get in? He tried again, to the same effect. Was it some kind of puzzle? That must be it—a teacher's means of testing his students. A clever idea, if a potentially annoying one. Lachyn studied the door. If this was a challenge, there had to be some kind of clue, something that might tell him what he was supposed to do, at the least. Ten minutes later, he had found nothing. No clue as to what he was supposed to do. His frustration was mounting. Who was the genius who had thought of this anyways? “Alright, time to try something else,” he muttered. Something simple, something obvious. Maybe he was just reading too much into it. “Open?” he asked hopefully. Nothing. “Open sesame!” No luck. “Hello, door, I'm Lachyn the Wanderer and I'm supposed to report here for my homeroom! I'm a student of Zorlo's! Please let me in now!” He grabbed the doorknob, twisted, pulled hard. The door refused to open. “Dammit!” He kicked it, and all he got for his trouble was a searing pain in his foot. “Alright, door, this means war!” he growled. At that moment he didn't care how stupid he sounded. He drew his sword and struck at the door. He slashed, he thrust, he stabbed and hacked, to no avail. He didn't even make the slightest mark, not even a tiny dent, not even a nick or scratch in the bloody varnish. When he was worn out, he collapsed against the door, exhausted and more frustrated than ever. Dejected and drained, he slid down to sit on the floor. “'Tis a rare tale a hero so brave, is bested by a door,” he sighed in a singsong. He didn't even have the energy to put the words to a tune. “But for his training, his sister to save, he's lost his unusual war...” He stood to sheath his sword, and felt a tingle as his fingers brushed the Thunder Staff. It had all the charge of a gathering storm. A storm... He spun, grinning, feeling triumphant. Of course! Why hadn't he thought of the staff before? He pulled it free and it transformed easily, growing longer and wider. The smoky crystal at the top cracked with lightning. He raised the tall, gnarled staff and brought it down with all the strength he possessed. His strength was greater than he expected. The force of the shockwave the staff threw off threw him backwards into the opposite wall and he slumped to the floor, stunned, thunder ringing in his ears. The first thing he realize as he came out of the daze was that the door remained firmly closed and completely undamaged. He staggered to his feet, tried the door again, and roared with fury when it didn't open. “Lachyn?” He leaned on the staff, breathing hard, weary and disappointed. “Lachyn!” Stupid door, he thought. I guess the Dome isn't in my favor after all today... “Wanderer Lachyn, can you hear me?!” With a heavy sigh, he turned to see who was calling his name.

Re: Lachyn's (New) Training
BiC: Magic is an odd thing. No sooner do things start to make sense before the Dome completely destroys that logic. A door began to materialize in the center of the hallway, and the voice continued to call out to the man. "Lachyn, enter," the voice said flatly.
OoC: Okay, time to keep you moving. Sorry it took me so long again. @_@ The door will continue to call out of Lachyn, asking him to enter and drawing him into the world the door contains. After he enters, have him look around for a bit and try to find what's calling out to him. End your post with Lachyn finding someone. Now then, here is the fun part: You have to create a world. It doesn't have to be medieval or modern or futuristic. It just has to be some kind of world for Lachyn to interact with. Since his journey to discover this person isn't going to all be done, since he'll only be finding the person in your next post, you'll have to keep a solid idea of what you want the world to be like. Namely, what kind of people live their and stuff like that. Feel free to use anything you think of. For this assignment, the minimum is 600 words, so have at it. ^_^
