[Power Shot] Synyx's Training

OoC: 373 words. I know it's not a very good post; I'm not good at introductions. But, that's what you're here for!

BiC:Synyx awoke in a cave; the sky was sunny and the air was cool. It seemed a perfect day for him to hunt some big game. He placed on what little armor he had, put on the Xicarta, made sure Xangatsu was in place, and started out of the part-time dwelling. He spotted a mountain goat leaping from rock to rock gracefully, and thought it would make a good meal. It looked lean and alert, though, so it would be hard to catch.

Synyx tried to copy the animal’s movements, jumping up, getting higher and higher, while trying to be as silent as possible. He finally reached a flattened part in the mountain. The goat was standing atop a smooth, flat rock. It stared at him. Synyx tried to place his foot down slowly, but he loosened a stone and caused a good deal of noise when he attempted this. And it stared at him.

At this point, Synyx was very confused. He knew for a fact that any animal would have retreated from him by now, but this one just stayed still, in plain view. He decided to take a few more steps toward the animal. It stood stock still. Now Synyx walked up right in front of the goat and took out Xangatsu. The mountain goat then leapt from the rock and up a rough hill. It was an odd hill, only slanted on either side so that you could walk, but the center was covered in large boulders. It stood at the top of the center, just behind the loose boulders.

Still confused as to why the mountain goat wasn’t running away, but instead stopped and looked at him, Synyx stepped forward onto the smooth rock. The boulders on the hill rolled away and revealed a large door. Synyx looked down at the rock he was standing on. Carved into it were the words, “Υποδοχή στο θόλο! Παρακαλώ προχωρήστε μέσω της πόρτας.” Translated from Greek, it means, “Welcome to the Dome! Please proceed through the door.”

Synyx looked up in amazement. “The Dome,” he said in disbelief. The mountain goat was gone. He walked through the door, thinking it was fate to follow that animal up to where he stood.

OoC: Yes, Synyx understands Greek.

Edit: I swear, I had ABSOLUTELY no idea you were in Greece when I wrote that.

Re: [Power Shot] Synyx's Training

Ah, Greek. This is not a new way to interest me, but it did the job nonetheless.

Assignment Time!

As Synyx enters the door, he comes into a rather lavish room filled with decorations. But, before you have the time to truly appreciate all this culture, the mountain goat appears again to your astonishment! Quickly, he's about to destroy a priceless vase! Chase the goat away down a corridor, where you will come into contact with a mysterious ghost, who soothes the goat, and scolds you for being so rough with it.

500 words, please.

Re: [Power Shot] Synyx's Training

Synyx walked through the door. He had entered an exquisite room, filled with suede armchairs, polished tables that seemed to have been made of the darkest, purest chestnut wood he had ever seen, and breathtakingly life-like portraits of people unfamiliar to him. These had been framed in pure gold, which had beautiful and perfectly symmetrical designs on it. On the bottom of each frame was flawlessly centered writing (Synyx had gathered that they were the names of the portraits’ subjects, for he noticed the short brown hair and dark blue eyes of Hochgender Adler with his name under it). Synyx, before he had actually taken time to appreciate everything, noticed a portrait of himself suddenly appear. When he glanced in that direction before, there was nothing; but once he turned away and checked again, there it was, in the exact same fashion as the others. “I see,” he thought aloud. “These are portraits of the people who are part of The Dome.”

The room was a large rectangle, with the edges rounded. At the end began a hallway, shaped as a semicircle with a twenty foot wide floor acting as the diameter. It went straight forward for about twenty yards, where you could either make a sharp turn left or right. The wall that the hallway would lead you to if one walked straight had a marble pedestal; on it was a light blue vase, with intricate thin green lines covering the surface. Synyx looked down the hallway suspiciously, for he thought he heard a noise. At first, he did not believe what he saw: the mountain goat! It was jumping around the vase, and Synyx, not wanting it to fall, ran to stop the animal.

As he approached the vase, it was tapped by one of the animal’s hind legs and started to fall. Synyx dove for the vase and caught it just before it hit the ground. He put it back down on the pedestal quickly but carefully, and turned, only to see the goat dashing down the right hallway. What a reckless animal. I should stop it before it causes any damage.

And so began the chase.

Synyx kept close behind the goat, running through hallway after hallway, turn after turn. Quite an odd design. It’s as if this place is a maze. It was close to it. There were always multiple paths, though none of them ever led to a dead end. The portraits continued on and on through the hallways. I suppose The Dome isn’t as secluded as I thought. Synyx was closing in on the goat now. He could sense the animal was tiring.

Synyx took his chance at one of the turns. He lunged at the goat and successfully tackled it. “Gotcha!” Or so he thought. The goat had quite a kick, and Synyx took a blow to the stomach. He caught his breath and continued the pursuit, but at last he came to a hallway with a grand door at the end. It took up the entire space of the wall. The goat was lying down, and a white translucent figure was stroking its chin. Synyx could only figure it was a ghost. Feeling a bit unsafe, he put his hand on Xangatsu’s holder. The being proceeded to look up at Synyx and speak.

“How dare you be so rough with this animal! The poor thing. Do you have any idea how fearful you’ve made him? Or any common sense whatsoever? What could possibly have made you chase this innocent animal, who did nothing to harm you in the first place? Unbelievable!”

OoC: 600 words exactly.
I think this was a very good post, despite it being a month "late."
...Sorry about that.

Re: [Power Shot] Synyx's Training

Synyx tried to explain to the ghost what had happened. “It almost knocked over a priceless vase in—at least what I presume to be—the main hall! Surely you would also wish for artifacts like that not to be broken; especially in this sacred place?” He was composing himself now, since the ghost seemed harmless; but he kept his hand on the holder.

“I would stop the thing, but I certainly wouldn’t tackle it! I would give it respect! Ever hear of the word? It’s what you give to all of God’s creations.” The ghost now rose and moved toward him. Synyx quickly took out Xangatsu. “Hey! What’s the big idea? You should know I’m not going to attack you!”

“I just walked in the Dome a few minutes ago!”

“Oh!” The ghost put on a surprised face, followed by an embarrassed one. “My apologies. I didn’t realize you were new. Ahem…. Welcome to the Dome, Mister…?”

“My name is Synyx.”

“No last name?”

“Not that I recall. Much of memory was wiped clean a couple of years ago. Anyway, thank you for the greeting. Now, if you don’t mind me asking… what are you?”

“I am a Domerii, or happy ghost. Though I wouldn’t be so happy if you were a reckless student trying to kill an animal.” Synyx noticed something odd out of the corner of his eye. The goat had grown another head.

“…Is that goat supposed to do that?”

“Do what?” The Domerii looked back and saw the odd spectacle. He let out a small scream and swiftly floated behind Synyx.

“I guess not.” The goat began to split into two. These did the same thing. The goats repeated the process until there were thirty-two. “This is by far the oddest thing I have ever seen,” Synyx stated to no one in particular.

There was another pedestal and vase on one of the walls. The vase fell and, though it somehow didn’t shatter, released some dust which was confined within it. The goats crowded around the fallen work of art and began to eat the dust. Suddenly they were sucked into the vase.

“What’s going on?” Synyx asked the ghost quizzically. The Domerii did not answer, but continued to stare wide-eyed at the vase. Before Synyx had time to fully ponder this event, a head stuck out of the vase. A goat head, but it was much larger than earlier, and the eyes were pure blue; no pupils, no whites. Following the head was a thick, muscular neck. A gigantic hoof and leg shot out, then another. Then came the body, which was just a bit thicker than the neck and had a chest resembling a human with “six-pack” abs. The back looked gnarled instead of straight, with a great number of notches in it, like the skin was pressing against the spine. Then came the back legs. There was no longer a tail.

The mutant goat was now fully released from the vase.

It let out a roar and the Domerii hid in the ground. Synyx leapt at the monstrosity, holding Xangatsu behind him in his right hand and shielding his face with his left arm for protection if the goat should choose to attack him.

It did.

The part Elementite was driven into a wall by one of the hooves. Synyx then fell face-first on the floor, and the goat let out another roar.

Gah…. That thing is strong, Synyx thought as he pushed himself to his feet. Xangatsu had been flung to a corner of the room, probably upon the impact with the wall. Darn! It’s behind this thing!

Synyx charged up his Dark Lightning. The goat charged at him as he released the energy. The force brought the goat first up on its hind legs, then crashing down on its back. Synyx dashed madly for the sword, which was just above the goat’s head as it lay on the floor. It brought its head up quickly and sent Synyx spiraling through the air. He conformed himself and landed on his feet, sliding backwards for some time before coming to a halt. The goat became upright again.

“Domerii!” Synyx yelled. He heard a faint response from under him.

“…Yes?”

“I need you to distract this thing while I get my sword.”

“But it’ll hurt me!”

“Would you like a new student’s blood on your hands?”

“…Oh, bother….” The ghost flew out from the floor and floated just above the monster’s nose. “Hey! Up here!” it yelled at the mutant. It roared as it tried to swipe at the ghost with its hooves, but to no avail. Its muscles were so huge that they obstructed the legs’ movements toward its head. It tried to rear its head, but the Domerii was just out of its range.

Synyx crept to the corner of the room where Xangatsu was on the ground. He looked at the ghost as it continued to tease the enemy and he couldn’t help smirking.

He picked up his weapon and leapt once again at the goat, but this time, he had the advantage; he was behind it. Synyx planted Xangatsu in the creature’s back and ran it up its spine. The blade cut effortlessly through the bone. When he got to the monster’s head, he jumped and threw the dark blade in such a way that it spun as it advanced toward the neck.

This all happened in under three seconds. There was no blood.

Xangatsu landed on its side on the floor. The goat’s head dropped to the floor and the body fell over, turned into dust, and flew into the vase which had fallen over earlier. The vase floated back onto the pedestal. The head began to deform and change into just a ball of skin and fur, and the original goat began to form from it.

The Domerii stayed motionless. It was staring down at the seemingly impossible situation and the goat which apparently had seen none of it.

Synyx landed and picked up Xangatsu, placing it once again in its holder.
