Safer's Beginner Class
NOTE: I am the only person who may post in here.
One thing I tend to focus on with my beginners is spelling and grammar. If you don't have a spellcheck (NEVER, please, NEVER use the grammar check in Word. Only spellcheck) look through it yourself for mistakes. Assignments with too many mistakes (don't worry, I'm leniant) will need to be redone before I can allow you to continue. Please, also note that the assignments that I have you re-do are the most helpful to you as a writer (I mean, come on, what's writing a bunch of stuff and me just okaying it going to do for you?), so don't get discouraged when I tell you to restart.
Pre lesson: Have your character meet Tokumaru. I'm going to let you do it all by yourself, but READ HIS PROFILE to try and get an idea of how you think he would talk. I wanna see how well you can do this without me here to guide you. Have him lead your character to his new room in the Dome, and explain exactly what the Dome is. Then, have him leave, and end your post. 150 word minimum.
Lesson one: Using what you currently are capable of, have your character, starting from his/her room, journey around the Dome. The main goal of this assignment is to see how well you describe things. Don’t overdo it, just try your best. Remember that the Dome can be anything your mind would like it to be, whether it be a dark and loomy castle hall, or a beautiful and mystic walk in the clouds. End your post at a door. Be creative with your descriptions. 150 word minimum.
Lesson Two: Upon entering the room, you find yourself in a garden. The bushes are tall, and above you hangs an infinite and quiet overcast sky. You cannot see anywhere but ahead of you, for the bushes are so tall that they hide vision. However! You see a ladder at your side, and decide to climb it. When you reach the top of the bushes, you see that they span far off into the distance, with a fountain in the center. What does your character think about this? Describe it as best you can. 200 word minimum.
Lesson Three: Begin walking through the garden. There aren't any monsters, but there are creatures. Squirrels, rabbits, soft, kind creatures. There are birds, there are insects; this is all a very quaint place. I want to see how your character feels in calm situations. End your post at the fountain. 250 word minimum.
