A plea to I:SBers

Mourning I:SB

I've started posting less and less, in ZU's I:SB,
And all the while I'm wondering, why on Earth could this be?
'Tis such a shame methinks that I have ceased my posting there,
But I:SB, it is, to me, becoming a nightmare!
I'd got used to the flaming when I used my common sense,
I'd got used to the foolish folks; incredibly dense!
I'd got used to the blatant English language disrespect,
I'd got used to the forum and knew just what to expect.
And still the forum was for me the greatest on the net,
And posting there I so adored; I had but one regret,
Many a night I waited up til stupid o'clock am,
Arguing ad nauseam, with folks; each one of them,
Had differing opinions in some way to those of mine,
Ne'er conceding a point; scientific or divine,
This was just how I liked it, but sadly it left me weary,
College in the morning was an experience quite dreary!
But that was fine, I knew it and I did it anyway,
I:SB provided merit to a would-be wasted day!
So why now has my posting therein suddenly diminished?
Why now does almost every day end feeling quite unfinished?
The answer, I think, lies with the topics for debate,
Hundreds of them all the same, it seems, so I await,
A topic fresh, a topic new, one unseen for a while,
And so I pen this poem, hoping I:SBers to beguile,
To start just such a thing, an intellectual paradise,
Please, oh please, I beg of you, come up with something nice!
Just one small favour, I, Guy Westcott, ask of thee;
Resuscitate our dying forum, ZU's I:SB!

Constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated...

Although I haven't been here long enough to know what was going on in I:SB before, I do really like the poem, its nicely timed and gotta love the wordy-ness.

I have to say that I agree with Liquid Fire on this. It's certainly well-written out and wordly witty also, you definitely display creativity and a penchant for word play here. If I have to complain, paragraphing every now and again might be useful, perhaps once every four lines or so to break it up (yet still retain the sense of rhyme)

Other than that, I can't think of anything to disagree about it at all! How many of us I:SBer's feel the same way you do about this, I wonder?

Despite this involvement, many have wondered whether God is really doing it for the lulz, considering his inexplicably random acts of world flooding, and absences at many major events throughout history - most famously at Auschwitz. While millions of still-born fetuses hit the ground with a thud, and millions more are ravaged by disease, it is some relief to know that his face will appear in home-made pies with alarming regularity.

Well, funnily enough, I did consider that, but then "arguing ad nauseam with folks; each one of them had differing opinions in some way to those of mine" would have been over two verses, but the second half was a continuation of the sentence so that four line split didn't seem to work. I tend to put most of my poetry in a solid block these days, as opposed to verses, mainly for that reason; my style often has those sentences, split across lines, and in odd places. I'm sure there is a term for the literary device where a poet finishes a sentence and starts another in the same line as well, but for the life of me I can't think what that term is. If anyone knows, I'd be grateful if they'd let me know. I use that device a lot too.

I don't know. I shall have to ask them!

Thank you for the comments, and thank you too Liquid Fire, and everyone who voted in the poll. It is great to hear that people like my work!
