A Butterfly by Moonlight
This is my first attempt at sharing any of my poems. I've been recently inspired by a number of events in life and the words just came to mind.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Humbled I am, to bare my face to the glistening trees whispering in the endless wind, To the fluid grasses alive beneath hard feet. And to the sun-drenched eternity of memory’s paradise. I am belittled by the grandeur the word suffers to describe, Halted in my attempts to focus on the enduring complexity of its existence. Impossible to name, describe, annotate, The sensation of grass underfoot-toes swallowed by liquid strands Brushing against dark skin with painful but loving intent. Its cool locomotion wafting the scent of baked earth and subtle water Into nose and eyes, bittersweet on the tongue. A tireless caress like the creator’s own promise. Within the tree’s heart, emboldened by its strength I perch, arms wrapped around arms grasping rough bark Eking out comfort and stability. The canopy glows like shattered emerald and blinding white, Keeping me still in its turbulent capsule. Hidden from the eyes of the world I am held safe in its breast. Like great muscles and tendons the boughs move, Incalculable strength whittled down to gentle gesture. Cold and alone I return to my bed, Head filled with questions and whose answers stay among the branches. Tragedy is the joke As the tree chose one who could hear but could not listen.

Re: A Butterfly by Moonlight
Very Nice Shimsil, I enjoyed that. It has a nice flow to it, and has superb imagery.
I really liked this line: Quote:
Keep it up, I'd like to see more ![]() -NC

Re: A Butterfly by Moonlight
Heres another one, did it at work.
----------------------------------------- There was darkness and shadow then there was light and tangibility from the formless abyss the forms were wrought given to them existence by the light When the verse was born there borne of it were two and only two A man-being and woman-being they were the first and last Of all orders man Ayodia was born and of all orders woman Ayuthatta The verse tired had no more duty but to cradle and rear them for its divine purpose But of all things set together the two would not. For blinks of time they quarrelled and warred seemingly from timeless conception. Nothing Ayodia enginneered would suit her Nothing Ayuthatta sowed would please him Ayodia bent existence to form paradoxes contructed latticeworks of atom into matter Ayuthatta arranged glittering stars swept nebulas into spirals, swaths of limitless glowing energy. Far from heated conflict when refuse and shrapnel settled swirling aimlessly forgotten amongst the beautiful things of the verse a bit of dust--no more--created the first silence. Upon the stone and water the glimmer of life touched brought a purpose to the two that never felt the need for such things They named it their child.
