Edgar Allan Poe

Does anyone like Edgar Allan Poe? He is my favourite writer, and I idolize him. In fact, I sort of made a poem based on the raven from "The Raven". I hope you enjoy it! Please drop reviews and light criticism!

Black Feathers
This bird which moves from tree to tree,
Gracefully spreads his feathers to fly,
Soars high into the heavens,
O Raven, thou art free!

This bird that sings its songs of sorrow,
No one to sing for, no one to listen,
This lonesome creature of the darkness,
Flies freely in the skies of ‘morrow.

This lonesome bird sings by day,
And hunts quietly in the night,
Seeking a friend to share his songs,
But nothing can be found today.

I can’t find a companion to listen,
Why won’t someone listen?
Listen to my songs of darkness?
Am I alone in this gruesome world?
The Raven ponders,
Am I truly alone?

I'm not a fan of Edgar Allen Poe, though he was definately an amazing writer.

You're poem didn't remind me particularly of 'The Raven,' if you didn't mention Poe I wouldn't have noticed, but I think its a good poem! I enjoyed the human feelings you attached to the bird, very gracful and lonely. Good stuff.

Thanks very much! Yeah, I guess it doesn't remind you of Poe. I just sort of got inspired a year after reading the poem! LOL Or was it that I was watching a crow........anyway LOL. Thanks for reading!

I read some books about Edgar Allen Poe in school, it was translated in dutch. There were fine stories.

I am a big fan of EAP! But I guess you would know... I especially like The Cask of Amontillado.

I still need to read that one!!!!! I've listened to part of it on an audio CD I got, but I still haven't finished it! "The Raven" is my favourite poem done by him, and my favourite story would have to be either "The Tell-Tale Heart", or "The Pit and the Pendulum". Of course, I haven't read all of his stories yet, lol.

Yeah, I liked the Pit and the Pendulum, too. I want to read The Black Cat.

Ooh, The Black Cat is a good one. I heard it on an audio CD I got of Poe. It's basically his stories acted out on old time radio. I really love it! I listen to it all the time!
