Sixth Grade Poems
Here are two poems I wrote when I was in the sixth grade. Why am I sharing them? I dunno.
The Cottage There was a cottage in the woods I decided to explore For I had never seen that cottage In the woods before I knocked upon the door Before I went to roam But since no one was there I decided to go home ---------------- The Sea I went to the great blue sea To gaze and marvel at it I thought to myself What mysteries have we not found What creatures have we not seen I want to experience the adventure That the water holds But now I want to watch the sea ------------------ Personally, I hate that one, because I dislike freeverse. The only reason why I wrote a freeverse was because the teacher forced us to...

Re: Sixth Grade Poems
Why are you sharing them? I don't know either, but I'm glad you did! I really liked those, they were short and to the point, and yet you were able to deliver a message within a small number of lines. My favorite of the two was "The Cottage". It remined me of a fairy tale, which isn't a bad thing, but i don't know why it brought that to my mind.
And about the free verse..don't you just hate it when teachers demand poems from you? It's as if they expect you to turn your inpspiration on like a tap.. |
