Riddles (G)
Hi there. I was making riddles for Mooncalf's Riddle Thread when I noticed how proud I was of the rhyme and metre. So I thought I'd post them here and see whether other people thought they had merit. There's a few of them:
1. I am farther from home than anyone has ever been, and yet can clearly see it even from where I stand. I stand here at the greatest risk, Yet do so at our leader's command. In years to come, most famed I'll be, Though others come, also answering the call. But though my feat everyone can see... Many will say it never happened at all. 2. One strong, one weak, yet both are small. One heavy, one light, yet both attractive. These four sisters live as one, In darkest night and midday sun, They'll give the world to anyone, And are not yet understood. The smartest man pursued them all, His grand designs destined to fall, Do you know what they are called? If so, then very good. For he didn't; no he never knew Of the strong and weak, not of those two; He died before he knew the four And yet pursued them all - it's true. 3. The whole of me is black as night, O'er my compressed form people fight It cuts and is cut, but until then I am black and deep in earth I lie 4. Like an endless, raging fire I burn; But icy cold I can be, too. Through thoughtless acts, you will soon earn My attention and devotion, too. Power I hold o'er he who lets my teachings in his tenacious heart, He ne'er forgives and ne'er forgets Those who made him play this part. |
