I've understood most of the critisism in this thread but this is just not fair. It's been made clear that this is a community-based podcast, not Zelda.

Maybe a segment could be included which deals with zelda, but it would probably only be short. This isn't supposed to be informative, really. The way I see it, anyway.

How is that not fair, he gave a perfectly good suggestion? You people take suggestions like poison. Sure its community, but anything is possible.

I understand that... but this community is based on Zelda. The common bond is Zelda. You're trying to tell me that the podcast is based on the community, the community is based on Zelda, but the podcast has no connection to Zelda whatsoever?

Since I just said that I understand most of the critisism in this thread, that's a bit of an overreaction.

That's why I said the thing I said about a segment! Goodness.

Seriously, if you're going to critisise, you've got to recognise people's right to critisise your critisism.

And I should be sorry for offering mine?

Look, I'm not trying to argue. I just wanted to give my opinion on what you said. That's what this thread is for. I don't exactly speak for everyone.

We recently got a rumor in (check the main site) saying Retro Studios would be in charge of developing the next Zelda, and that'd it be in FPS. Now, presonallyl, I think that's just a load of BS, but I would be pretty excited if it turned out to be true, seeing as I loved the MP games.

Being one of the heavier gamers among the ZUcast (yes, I keep calling it that), I for one was always convinced that we'd discuss any Zelda news that were important (not like... Tingle's DS game sells 10 000 copies).

Thing is, for the first podcast there weren't no news to talk about. I don't know what the schedule is for this one, but as co-producer to Asia, I shall talk to her and see what we can do, for I deffinately don't want to leave this out for anything in the world. Well, except money... everyone has their price:XD

I'm just tired of offering opinions and getting snide remarks for it. I'm mainly talking about this one from you: "I've understood most of the critisism in this thread but this is just not fair." I'm not sure what you meant, but be careful... everyone can give suggestions. Buzz isn't very active on ZU, and he didn't know that it was intended for community stuff only. >.>

EDIT: Hombre de Mundo: Yes, I definitely would like to hear stuff about that.

And I'm sure that all the suggestions will be taken into consideration because the podcast is for the people of ZU and all of our voices count. The cast workers would be stupid not to, which is why I'm glad this thread is here.

In honesty, yes. The majority of the people who are a part of the Podcast, and the majority who listen to it don't actually venture into the main Zelda boards that much (I am aware a few do, but as far as I can see, most of us don't). It's a community Podcast from a Zelda fan-forum. Maybe there could be a quick Zelda segment or something, but I can't see it taking over the whole Podcast or something.

She means that it's not fair to expect the Podcast to have included Zelda related stuff, when it's actually community-based.

Ah ok, I can understand that.

I might as well stop suggesting... I'll just wait to hear the next one.

Re: The first ZUBC podcast *awww how cute!*

^ I'd say wait to see how this second one turns out. I think we have it all scheduled, but I'm not really sure. We were planning on having another general gaming segment, but the person who was responsible for that hasn't kept in touch, and we're not really sure what's gonna happen. At least I'm not, I don't know about Asia, but I know this for sure:

After the first podcast, we've been getting a ton of suggestions, submissions and various contributions. We're trying to organize all this the best way possible and in that sense, the second episode will be a lot different from the first one, since we've got all this new stuff that we're trying to sort out and make it real. So you might want to think of this as the ZUcast 1.2 or something, if you like

Re: The first ZUBC podcast *awww how cute!*

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee yUh! xD

caaalm, everyone calm - and have cookies
*waltzes around handing out cookies then sits down*

I won't address each and every post as I did this time since I don't want to confuse and dilute what I want to say, that way.

Sugarpoultry and Buzz - I and the whole podcast team have been VERY open to criticism and suggestions and are taking a LOT of things into consideration. What I dON't appraciate, however, is someone giving very vERY generalised and unfair "suggestions" that insult the very premise on which this Podcast is built. To say "ew, you guys are very immature and have goofy humour, do the other type of humour instead that I would approve of" is NOT helpful. It simply isn't. That's just insulting. It's nowhere near being a viable suggestion. It's like someone going "don't be your personality, be another kind of personality that I would like" << wAY too wishy washy.

Secondly, another thing I heavily criticised in Sugarpoultry's "criticism" is her repeatedly assuming and sTATing that we had absolutely no direction and not even a rough script or pointers to go by. She stated so matter-of-factually several times in this thread in reply to some people even though she wasn't part of the process, so it was unfair of her to do so. That is not criticism, that's just .. uninformed biased opinion being stated as fact.

Thirdly, from the very beginning when I fIRST pitched this idea to the community I sTATED and we ALL discussed that this was going to be a community-based thing. I don;t think, for a second that anyone here was misled as to it's content, so, it's unfair to treat is as though it was mEANt to be a zelda podcast and that we have let you down in that regard.

See, there are wAYS to give criticism without compLETEly putting something down and being wholesale unfair and arrogant in the process.
Margar, Nathan, DrZaius1, Holic, Quark - these are all people who phrased their criticism wELL and got their point across wiTHOUt practically telling us to change ourselves, grow up, be different people to appeal to another audience whom we're nOT targeting at all.
This is like producing something for your family, then someone turning round and going "ah but this isn't impressing the gentlemen down in the bingo club"

If your suggestion was just (and as Buzz eloquently put it) to simply have more SERIous content there and more serious discussion, you should have SAID so.
Again, you'll be glad to know I've had quite a bit of that feedback from others, some who got in touch dirECtly, and I've DEFInitely changed things and included more serious topics and discussion AND zelda gaming in there.

Hombre - will gladly discuss what's been said here with you today! xD

To sum up - if you have a suggestion, don't be afraid to say it straight out instead of dancing around the subject without actually doing so! :p

Re: The first ZUBC podcast *awww how cute!*

Anime_Queen, just to clear this up, Buzz was handed a link to the podcast and didn't read ANY of the posts regarding this podcast, he just listened to it. That is why I was offended by the comments that his comment was "unfair." Do you expect everyone to read the first post? What about the people who find it on Itunes, and listen to it without even going to ZU? Same thing.

As for my criticism, it was criticism. Its just something you don't want to hear and you took it more personally than you should have.

I believe that is exactly what I did the first time, but people kept attacking my views as a pure emotional reaction. Sorry if my suggestions were blunt and a little insulting, but its all part of criticism.

"You are being too immature and goofy." Translation: "Be more mature and serious." This isn't rocket science. Do we really have to spell it out for you? It was quite specific. The lack of maturity simply detracted from the quality of the podcast, and we wanted to point that out.
