Poetry: Fighting
Around here, there's no war
No ammunition store There's no marine core No steel doors No drills that bore Into the ground Bring the fortification down Expose enemy lines And put fear in their minds And I praise the most high That there's just pines And I can keep what's mine But there's still fighting Fighting on the streets Fighting in your brain Fighting on a beat Fighting that drains And pains Your soul until It can't take any more Shakes you to your core Then you realize There is still a war There is still a war in side And it's up to the soul to decide What kind of ammunition it brings Be it a fire to feed the flames Or water to put out the flames Or earth to calm the flames Or air to blow out the flames Do you believe a small failure Can extinguish all of your gains Or can you get yourself all there And pick it up once again Not everyone's a fighter But everyone's got to fight Can't just pray to God Hoping things will urn out right Your actions speak loudest To me, your's, and mine To the earthly, and the divine Or just the earthly if you incline Maybe the fighting will stop The street wars will stop The discreet disputes will stop Mistruths between man will stop The one who ran will stop And look back and face their fears Act in spite of horrible leers And all conflicts will cease Once we find our mind's peace At first it might not be clear Behind fog are those that harm But the light can disarm And cut through the fog and shear The ground and sky asunder Don't dig a trench Go out and march under Your own cover And cut your own path Through the stench Of failure and sadness Keep fighting inside Keep fighting inside And make sure the outer war passes
