Re: The Noble Exhumed -- Nightmares Pile Like Bodies
This is another dedication. Here ya go, Tosha! Voices you've never heard. The unborn cry for a rare affection, and scarce are souls that deliver. Purgatorial elegance, present in every element. Insensitive bitterness assails without mercy, the classic struggle of two flavors. The torment is as simple as North and South. Pulsing polarity draws the pendulum. You've left a sweet taste in my mouth. Indecision begets derision. It'll take more than one swipe to make the decision. In that branching chaos haunts the many shades of my dark prayers. Those ravenous wolves, they reinvent the word "heartattack." Let me ease your kindred spirit, to balm where they have seared it. Before the chasm, I howled your name. My voice became vagrant. I carry my salvation in the form of a gun, minus the trigger. A hidden kiss. Barricade the gate as I smother my doubts in honey. Sentinel, saccharin chariots, watch over me. Velvet anguish points the way, yet vandals have marked dead ends in every direction. Avoid us now. You have no reflection. Burning trees erupt. Heed me now, drink not that selfish poison, the acrid sap. A weathered quill adorns the epitaph. Summoning sin, beckoning bullets has never been so tiring. The darkly dying wonder, in fatal haste, while reading the stone's message, "How do those lips taste?"

^_^ Awesome. What else can I say that I haven't said before? You're such a great writer. See, I'm not even a complete writer because I don't do poems, okay, well I do do poems but they suck. Your poems are so surreal in a way. It's hard to describe ... but yeah, you get the point.

Re: The Noble Exhumed -- Nightmares Pile Like Bodies
My greatest desire is to crawl to the summit of tallest tower by cruel stairway. Endeavor as I would, my ultimate fate lies in wait. Writings in my heart are my map, I shall not lose my way. Dark as the sunrise. Can you even call it daylight? Elegies emerge from the clamoring echoes of footsteps. I am alone. My tongue is a sword named Despair, and it betrays me as it entertains me, my only true friend. As the walls begin to threaten, I chant to keep them from closing in. The trail I've blazed mocks me. Former steps lead into circles, yet I swore I moved in a straight line. I am carried by my own will as strength fades, to the apex. Words would not describe the beast in waiting. A face like a nightmare; four legs carried the madness. Hands shaking, I clutched the spear of failure. Traitor's blood now stains my hands. As fear clenches my heart, I begin to croon of tragedy. The beast tires, entranced by lovely gloom and stygian self-hatred. Strength and timing no question, I raise the shimmering dissapointment to deliver a final blow. By chance, I caught sight of the lady fair. A bright, glorious maiden. How you jest of morning's light. The sun is a frailty when compared. Even Despair stops his song. I glimpsed only once more at that radiance, before the monster took flight, shattering rock like mist as it tore through, severing, painting, marring me as we descended to the after in a final grip, like the savage embrace of brotherhood.

Re: The Noble Exhumed -- Nightmares Pile Like Bodies
Thanks, Shrub. All of yours comments mean a ton to me, as you already know. ^^
I took your soul in a photographic flash. Narrowly, I weigh the choices. Buy a new roll of film, or stay with the aged, sorrowful sentiments of a red-eyed yesterday. Though they are poignant, I can't stay dead forever. Dripping image in a red room, as though it were melting. Phoenix, I don't want you. Not even the ashes may stay. Don't worry, I kept the negatives. You can find them in the deep crevices of a nameless, antique maze. Unbind them, and unwind them. I remember those days. Erase them from my memory. I don't want them, but I need them. Bad medicine for a sick soul. Delude me.

Re: The Noble Exhumed -- Nightmares Pile Like Bodies
Well, I've read every piece here and I must say that you're very talented. My favorites are, um..."All is Lost and Lost Have All", "Cane", and "Brotherhood". All of your pieces are so unique. At first glance they all seem to tell a fairly simple story, but in time I find myself coming up with so many different interpretations. I could sit and read your poems for hours, just enjoying them, relating them to my own life.
You're amazing, Shade. Keep it up.

Re: The Noble Exhumed -- Nightmares Pile Like Bodies
I love Botherhood. Kind of reminds me of Link (hey, this is a Zelda site after all). What if Link died in the end while saving Hyrule at the same time? It kind of reminds me of some tragetic hero, who dies for his efforts but not in vain, because the beast dies as well. Of course, the beast is part of his heroic ways. Without the beast, the hero has no purpose. Therefore, it is a brotherhood. So I guess that's also why the hero dies in the end when he kills the beast, the brotherhood is broken when one of them dies and so the hero's purpose dies with the beast. It's kind of like his own suicide.

Wow. That word truly describes the emotions enclosed within this last poem. "Delude Me" uses really powerful imagery. I love how you describe our experiences as rolls of film. As I see it, the theme of the song is our tendency to dwell in our memories and lose hope in what the future holds, and the message is given vividly. As always, another excellent piece.

Re: The Noble Exhumed -- Nightmares Pile Like Bodies
Carelessly, the razor wavers over soft, beautiful skin. Faint breaths trust me endlessly, in neverending rhythm. I'm glad we're so constant. Cautiously, I sliver the silver through. Ruby red is born. Drinking my fill, I hear a satisfied coo. No one's here but me and you. What's not to love? The past lurks behind me like a blurred visitor. Shared smiles, bleakly enthused. A finite star, so coldy imbued, spreads an enigma for the fragments; two. I can't see past the mirror, and all it read meant nothing. Did someone die? I was a victim to the perfect crime. Murder to the first degree, while the casualty lies in pieces, inside. Censorship for the sake of sanity. Preposterous. The black bar covers sharp eyes. Tear away the blasphemy. I'll break my back on stark commandments. Failed attempts at empathy, like hands that hold sweet nothings. Which is worse, the intensity or the absence? Subtitle those thoughts, I want to read what you're thinking. Emotional mysteries, a legacy at a lost leisure. Just a simple click, and I could edit you. A thread of ambiguity teases, asks me would I want to. Voices of slumberous emminence plead that I take them home, shelter death from dawn. Although my sight has long gone, shimmering shears of Atropos, shine on.

Re: The Noble Exhumed -- Nightmares Pile Like Bodies
Another one for Tosha. Stop being so inspiring. ^^ Clinically and cynically, I drew my pain. Excellent digressions of high hope and a prolonged fall across a downward slope. Distraught crossfire exudes quickly an infidelitous smoke. Breath in, asphyxiate. I'll wheel you in about half past eight. You'll meet your maker. Won't that be great? I've got to be brainwashed, or incinerate. Bloodless skies taunt me with intangibility. My mausoleum was torn asunder. Bereft of grave, I'll offer myself, your willing slave. Sinless thanks for when you took me under. Among the dancing maelstroms, we'll lock lips to the sounds of apocalypse.

Re: The Noble Exhumed -- Nightmares Pile Like Bodies
I must say, Shade, your poetry is the most striking I have yet read. Words take on meanings not usually attributed to them in your poems, and are used both literally and figuratively - a combination that is such that one is kept upon their toes when reading your work. One image flows into another - regarding Nevermore, I first imagined a hospital that became... well... I can't precisely say. There are so many things that could be imagined that they are enmeshed. In the end, strange sensations remain, given nebulous form by the final lines, where everything that preceded seems left behind, but, when considered, has only been neatly packaged at the end.
Your titles are quite intriguing - they spark curiosity and draw me into the piece. Once there, I have entered a labyrinth, one that is more well-proportioned than the word might imply. The poems cruise from one point to another, but in a fashion far from aimless - somewhere, they make their brisk return to images first imagined, building upon them with the treasures gained by the former sentences. I also love the depths of your allusions - their volume lends a richness to each piece. I have been impressed by every poem in this thread in such a manner as I tried to describe - to mention each piece would be excessive. Your work is quite inspiring, Shade. Continue. |

Re: The Noble Exhumed -- Nightmares Pile Like Bodies
Thank you so much, Selah! ^w^ You're too kind, you know that? When I read your comments, I always feel like I'm some sort of professional or something. While that feeling lasts, I like to put it to work writing more. The same goes with delicious bouts of depression. No pain, no gain. Here's a poem I just wrote.
A third poem for Tosha, inspired by her poetry/song thread. So many shreds of parchment secrete an unread eulogy. Pay your respects to the imperfection that bleeds morphine. I hide in the moaning white sheets; holes like eyes. Wearing that drab uniform, the living bow. Fearing the hollow leer of the unseen. I lurk in your lust, your murder scene. I'll let you inhale my dust, what's left of me. Conspiring faces. Even the walls have eyes. Flee to your warmth; it'll slowly fade away. When your holiday dies, I'll welcome you to winter. Soon, you'll realize you are a work of carved wood. Feel the hooks sink into... Let's sing a song together. I wrote this carol just for you. Soldiers do what they're bidden. What do you mean,"your lips are frostbitten?" Why aren't the kids moving? Crimson snowballs littered a white canvas. The weather outside is frightful. The fun's just begun, and I wonder, was this battle ever meant to be won? In the distance, I see us all fall from heaven. A heartbroken sun. Forbidden, frozen tears tattoo the face of a lonely someone. Arrested cardiac stops the wanderer in his tracks. I heard him crying, but I for once, an action lacked.

Re: The Noble Exhumed -- Nightmares Pile Like Bodies
Thanks, Lunchbox. I want to publish my work, but I don't really know any publishers. If you know someone, or if someone else knows someone I could submit my poetry to, let me know, please.
Now, for a change of pace, I wrote a song just now. Verse 1: (Hardcore Voice/Screaming) Monuments collapse in a rhythmic unison Cemetaries engage In silent feuds tracing back to the day you left Commited infernally to the script of a lasting liaison Destructive thoughts lead to destructive action Point your own fingers It's only hopeless (if you make it) I took a chance Danced in the dark To a twisted wedding tune... Bridge: The delicate (I feel them) So intricate Dip those arrows (My sorrows) In arsenic Draw it tight (Little archer) Such sweet release... Chorus: (Hardcore Voice/Screaming) She walks with me And she talks with me And she tells me I AM ALONE I AM ALONE It's only hopeless (If you break me) It'll only hurt for a little while (Eternity) Hook: Among a storm of weightless tethered roses I distinguished droplets of blood from the frantic petals. Caged by a familiar question (Has she left me forever?) I mourn to the church of the garden of my seed, my sown sadness. Hunted, I search for a reply, evading my horror, my own madness. Verse 2: (Hardcore Voice/Screaming) Scarred flesh; a wound of unrivaled fierceness Surprising huntress The inflictor of my affliction and beauty itself Conflicted and blinded in the name of paintings, not photographs We're both smiling even as she's killing me (piercing my SOUL) It's only hopeless (Until you let go) I took a chance I prayed for romance Did it make anything better...? (Repeat Bridge & Chorus)

See? I told you your stuff is always better than mine is. After reading through all this, I really feel put to shame. But, hey, not everybody can do both prose and poetry, right? You just happen to be great at both.

*stuffs Angel's head in the sand and buries it* SHHHHH! Young one. Anywho, this was very lovely, Shademan. The Shrubby likes it and thinkies you should write songs more often, yes, yes? Heh, you should get a band or something, or at least makes songs for famous bands to play for you. You just need to get your stuff out there, into the world. You would do great ^_^

Re: The Noble Exhumed -- Nightmares Pile Like Bodies
Guys, I have some interesting news. A friend of mine has been planning on forming a band, and he really likes my lyrics, and wants to use them for a song. Only a day or two after Shrub commented, in fact. This could be a sign that I really could get a career writing music, (and maybe playing the drums.)
