Eiji Aonuma discusses Zelda’s art at Japan Expo, full panel now available to watch

Last month, Japan Expo once again brought Japanese culture to Paris, France, covering everything from video games and music to art and animation.

A particular highlight of the event was the Art of The Legend of Zelda Series panel, in which series producer Eiji Aonuma, director Satoru Takizawa and illustrator Yusuke Nakano took the stage to discuss the artwork throughout the history of the Zelda series.

The full 50-minute panel is now available to watch on Nintendo France’s YouTube channel. It’s important to note that this has not been officially translated to English as of yet, however YouTube’s auto-translate feature appears to do a solid job in the meantime.

Even without the subtitles, this is at least worth skimming through to see the many design sketches presented, which chronicle many of the major games in the franchise.

Hang around until the 40:20 mark too for the results of the fanart contest held by Nintendo France, wherein the winning entries are selected by Aonuma, Takizawa and Nakano themselves. The three winners were each awarded an original illustration specially made for the event. Awesome!
