New Tomodachi Collection stage revealed for Smash 3DS

We’ve already had an obscure Japanese addition to Super Smash Bros. 4 this week in the form of a Captain Rainbow trophy, but if that’s not enough for you then you might be pleased to hear about the new stage for the 3DS version. It is based on Tomodachi Collection, a Japan-only DS game which received a 3DS sequel (Tomodachi Collection: New Life) last year.

It’s a life simulation series similar to Animal Crossing, wherein players use Miis to interact and make friends. The new stage in today’s Smash “pic of the day” reflects the series’ casual nature with a shot of a typical living room. Smash series director Masahiro Sakurai shares on Miiverse:

“Looks like someone’s enjoying the bachelor life in this pad.”

If I were to guess, I’d say that the background will probably change to show different rooms and other familiar locations from the Tomodachi games. As if the Find Mii and Pilotwings stages weren’t enough, I’d say it’s extremely likely at this point that a Mii will be revealed as a playable Smash fighter.
