In today’s Nintendo Direct broadcasted at 10am EST, Nintendo shared some new details on their gallery project located in Kyoto, which was announced in 2021 and has now been officially titled the Nintendo Museum. Shinya Takahashi presented the update, saying that construction on the building is going well and will be completed by March 2024. There is no official opening date as of this writing.

The museum will contain materials that celebrate Nintendo’s long legacy, stretching from its founding in 1889 to the video game landscape of today. Even the exterior of the building is part of the celebration, as the roof displays a giant question block from Super Mario Bros.
The Nintendo Museum inhabits what used to be the Nintendo Uji Ogura Plant, originally built for Nintendo’s old business frontier of producing Hanafuda cards. In 2016, the plant’s production and customer service functions were moved to a new location, and in 2021 it was announced that the building would be turned into a public gallery for Nintendo’s history.
