Zelda has always been an incredible series with a beautiful story. Each new game brings about new versions of the classic tale or adds new elements to the lore that many of us fans know and love. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the latest entry in the extensive Zelda series. Like those before it, this game offers a brilliant mix of action, adventure, and story. While the majority of entries revolve around the typical “hero defeats the villain and saves the princess” trope, each entry has offered their own imaginative version of this encounter. This hero, named Link, has gone from being the hero who descends from the heavens, to being the one who traverses time, and even the one who charts the Great Sea. Each version of this hero has defeated a villain named Ganondorf or Ganon (or Demise), and saved a princess named Zelda. Often with each new game we are given something new to add to the lore like where the Master Sword comes from or what is the Sacred Realm, giving fans new theories to create or adding insight to questions that came about from entries of the past. Sometimes something so simple as a design on a piece of armor or clothing can lead many to speculate on new information that may have previously gone unnoticed or overlooked.
Tears of the Kingdom’s story is that of mystery, intrigue, excitement, and suspense, sprinkled in with bits of nostalgia that will have even the most diehard fan on the edge of their seat. One of the biggest mysteries from Breath of the Wild being “who were the Zonai” takes a front row in this game’s story as we get much more insight on them and their contributions to Hyrule’s history.
