Nintendo has announced a 40 minute Direct focused on games coming out through next Winter. It will air on September 13th at 7am Pacific.
No further specifics have been provided as to what games will be a part of this. Some reporting from journalists like Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb insist that a port of Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD are done and ready for whenever Nintendo wants to put them out. There’s no promise this is where that will be announced, so even if it’s not announced tomorrow, keep an eye out in the future.
Breath of the Wild has a sequel announced in 2019, and this seems like as good a time as any to give us a new trailer and a proper title. This game is currently expected somewhere around March or later, so this seems like a great time to start a hype cycle. If we don’t see it here for some reason, expect to see it at The Game Awards in December, for sure. There’s 40 minutes to fill, so not spending at least some time on Zelda seems very unlikely when we know there are so many projects ready, never mind anything we don’t know.
At the risk of editorializing, I expect the new game’s name to be “The Adventure of Link: Breath of the Wild.”
Come back to Zelda Universe tomorrow to learn all about whatever gets announced if you’re not able to watch the direct yourself.
