Yuga’s Art Gallery: Eternal Slumber

I’ve always been a hard-working student, wanting to do my best and aiming for the highest grade. Lately, the past weeks of my life have been filled with assignments, group projects, and homework that need to be done. I know I only have myself to blame for the heavy workload as I decided to take an extra class on the side this semester, but recently, I’ve found myself staying up too late and waking up earlier than I should to rest for at least eight full hours. With my newly developed habits, it’s no surprise that I’ve been feeling more tired than usual lately.

I know being put to sleep was nothing Princess Zelda wished for in The Adventure of Link, but a tiny part of me is jealous of her eternal slumber. Well, not the “eternal” part, but definitely the slumber. She looks so peaceful in this drawing by DeviantArt user Audrey Greenhalgh, and I wish we could switch places.

Princess Zelda could be mistaken for Sleeping Beauty’s Princess Aurora in Audrey’s pretty illustration, and I’m certain she’s a beauty in the eyes of Link as he gently brushes her hair away from her face to take a better look at her. Her crown has slid off her head, and Link is about to wake her up with the power of the Triforce, but just before that’s about to happen, there’s a golden glow emitting from the Triforce marks on the back of their hands. If it weren’t for the serious situation with a cursed Princess of Hyrule going on, I would almost suggest that there’s a romantic atmosphere in the picture, thanks to the warm feeling the colors and golden lights create.

While my own room might be cold in the mornings as the seasons transition from summer to fall, and while I might not have a brave young man next to me when I wake up, Link and the warm lights might be the first things Princess Zelda sees as she awakens. I think I’ll add that as the second reason why I’d like to switch places with Princess Zelda right now.
