Finding meaning in death and dying has been one of the biggest problems humanity has faced. Where do we go? What do we do? Is the Grim Reaper going to come get me? Does he have a small porcine companion? Well, Spindle has an answer to one of those questions.
Spindle allows players to take the role of the new Death who is searching for why no one in the world is dying anymore. With this being a Zelda-like, players can expect to “explore classic puzzle dungeons, search for your lost abilities, [and] fight tricky bosses,” according to the description on Kickstarter.
“We grew up with the NES and SNES and fell in love with the classics,” says developer Tom Bleek. “With Spindle, we would like to create a game that follows the essence of the games of the old times: A living world that tells an exciting story, packed with interesting NPCs, stories, and secrets.”
Also, yes, the pig is playable. As Death can only harm living creatures, your pig friend is responsible for taking care of the non-living constructs.
If this is something you’d be interested in playing, you can back the Kickstarter here. Some backer bonuses include beta access, early bird pricing, the soundtrack, having a tombstone for someone special in the game, and erecting an ancient hero monument in your honor. There are 30 days left at the time of publishing, so there is plenty of time to back this retro-style action-adventure.
